EA has confirmed that a new entry in the Need for Speed franchise will launch this year, but a leak via an Austrian retailer that popped up this morning about it is completely fake.
Online shop gameware.at posted listings for a Need for Speed Heat, but as noted by Twitter account The Nobeds, the cover art is based on an old update to the mobile title Need for Speed: No Limits while the logo itself comes from a member of the NFS community.
Meanwhile, the Need for Speed Heat name is something that has been speculated by dedicated players for a while now, so it looks like the Austrian retailer has tried to put all of this vague information together to form a fake listing. You can check out those initial images over on ResetEra since the listings have now been taken down by the website.
It shouldn't be too much longer until we hear official word on this year's game though, with a reveal possibly slated for Gamescom next month. Are you looking forward to the 2019 entry? Race into the comments below.

Obvious to the rescue.
Not looking forward to it. EA has so ruined this franchise. They would really need to pull something special out of their ass in order to make NFS mean something again. I just see another quick job to sell microstransactions.
A remake of the underground games or the 2005 most wanted would be great
I bought NFS Rivals and Need For Speed for less than a tenner each in sales. To be honest that's what I will probably do with this one.
@Stoffinator absolutely right. They have ruined the franchise, hence why I picked the games up cheap. OK for a mindless go when I'm wanting a shallow game that I don't have to engage in too much but that's about it.
Can they not just release NFS underground 1&2 remastered for this gen instead of a new game, most people like myself want another underground game. Come on give us what we want
