The start of the year saw a big change for the Destiny series. Bungie and Activision parted ways, with the developer keeping hold of publishing rights for its shared world shooter. However, for players, it's more or less been business as usual. With Bungie pledging long term support for the franchise, Destiny 2 has been chugging along, with updates such as Season of the Drifter a couple of months back.
Season of Opulence is next in line for the sci-fi FPS, and the studio has detailed the key points the new update brings to the game. A new Power Surge quest is required to take part in the new Raid, called Crown of Sorrow, and there will be some changes to the Eververse store. You can read more on Bungie's blog post.
Additionally, the developer ends its update with a hint at the future. "Right now, our focus is on Opulence," it writes, "But after the Season has launched and Raid belts have been awarded, we’ll be looking deeper into the future, and sharing with you more about a new era for Bungie and Destiny 2." Season of Opulence looks like it'll start on 4th June, so hopefully we'll learn more about Bungie's longer term plans pretty soon.

A brand new era? Meaning a new mode and some story missions?
Yawn.....nothing to see here, move along.
Loved Destiny 1, and I thought Bungie did a good job resuscitating Destiny 2 from it's initial disaster. I got the 3 update package thing, but only really played the first one, as I still find the game too grind heavy, as are most MMOs. Wish the raids were more like the first couple from D1. I miss D1, lol.
@XurAgentofthe9 Is there a story or is it a pure grindfest?
@Flaming_Kaiser Forsaken has a story but the annual pass suff doesn't have any story just a couple new modes.
I would guess the next thing they bring out is Destiny 3 cant see them doing another expansion to 2 would of thought they would want a clean break from Activision a new expansion to 2 would muddy that.
@Flaming_Kaiser There is a story, and, to be fair, there are quite a few different aspects to the game, but they do all invove grinding for weapons and armour. I like the game, but can't play it all the time like some do. Haven't played for a few months, so there will be stuff added that I don't know about.
