A message from Kingdom Hearts III director Tetsuya Nomura has suggested that the sequel’s epilogue and secret movie scenes will be patched in to the final product at launch. The insinuation comes after Square Enix was forced to release a statement due to copies of the long-awaited title leaking almost a month prior to launch.
“The game’s planned epilogue and secret movie, which are the biggest spoilers in the game, are planned to be released at a later date just in case, so they will not be shown before the game’s release,” he wrote. Nomura acknowledged that the publisher knew the source of the leak, and it’s working to rectify it.
Of course the problem with the Internet is that once something gets out, it can be extremely difficult to put the lid back on again. At this stage, there’s really nothing anyone can do other than to be aware that spoilers exist, and hopefully you’ll be able to avoid them. It’s a sad state of affairs for a game that’s been in production for so long.

Wow...im not sure how to feel about this. Yes they avoid leaks but it means shipping an incomplete product. The usual 'what if psn ever gets switched off' argument very much applies!
SE need to contact youtube so their video isn't spoiled, maybe copyright strike threat to anyone that spoil it on youtube. I still remember god of war day 1 spoiler on youtube, the first my recommended youtube video on gow launch is gow last boss/ending.
Marvel's spider-man is better though since there's no spider-man ending video spoiler on my youtube recommendation.
@wiiware still does not prevent leaks and spoilers on sites such as facebook, twitter and forums etc.
the spoiler does not even need to be in video form.
Maybe it's the sites I visit but I never stumble across any spoilers. I mean RDR2 has been out for a couple of months now, I'm still on chapter 3 last time I checked and I know absolutely nothing about how the story will wind up.. and that's with hundreds of thousands of people already in the know.
I feel like people would have to actively hunt down KH3 spoilers, or be very very unlucky to stumble across them.
I mean I've actually played through KH1 and KH2, they've each been out the best part of 20 years and I still don't have a clue what they are about. If I can't spoil those games even after all that I am really not worried about this.
This might be the extremely rare time that I'm okay with extra scenes being added in at launch via a patch. For once, Nomura isn't spoiling every little thing about a Kingdom Hearts game in the trailers.
Thank god, I'm buying a Limited Edition PS4 Pro for this game and I refuse to let it be spoiled for me.
@Rob_230 while i agree i think they are doing things like this on purpose now a days in order to stop spoilers because they know somewhere the game is going to get out early for whatever reason
and honestly IF that was the reason then i don't mind
@FullbringIchigo yeah. I agree i guess. Its sad they feel they have to do it! After the 10 yr wait i defo wouldnt want this one spoilt
@jdv95 Yeah, I got spoiled of spider-man plot on twitter (ign twitter replies, I'll never check ign twitter again ). I think the best course of action is to stop playing internet until we're done playing the game lol.
@Kindaichi
yeah, me too.
Those were the days.
@NintendoFan4Lyf lol exactly
@kyleforrester87 they're not hard to follow though.
@Kindaichi I'm all for it if it means the endings don't get spoiled.
Well I still haven’t sorted this whole chargeback thing so looks like I won’t be able to complete KH3 after years of waiting.
Sakurai should've adopted this strategy for Smash Ultimate. It's a shame it leaked.
It's going to be a bad time for those without Internet.
@FullbringIchigo Please what a nonsense waiting how many years and now we get a Incomplete Edition please. 😑👎
Now they found a new way to sell you a Complete Edition. Now with all movies on disc. 👎
Still have to finish Horizon,
Uncharted 4, GOW i just dont watch any related stuff its total nonsense.
@wiiware Still have not finished Uncharted 4 still dont know the ending.
@Flaming_Kaiser thing is if you read what was said they said "epilogue" and "secret movie" not ending and if you remember this WAS going to be the last game so it's possible that late in development they decided to add these to set up future games but it was after the game had "gone gold" so they wouldn't be on the original print
that doesn't mean the game is "incomplete", it still has it's ending
@FullbringIchigo I still think its stupid now someone can spoil your stuff at the release that makes it so much better... 😑
So what the use of not including it im really interested. I still think its a incomplete game its a really important movie and its not included the same goes for the epiloge.
For me missing key video's mean a incomplete game. After so many years you still have to download stuff to complete your game. So in a few years when some of the game is not available anymore you get a different experience.
Its for real now if you want to get the best experience go first party or look for the smaller companies.
If i sound annoyed you are right i am.
@Flaming_Kaiser you know it's in situations like this i can see why publishers are so enticed by Digital Distribution, this kind of thing wouldn't happen with that
@FullbringIchigo Total nonsense its because they want to make as much money to maximise profit.
Square went from my favorite to one of my least favorite companies. Final Fantasy 15 selling key story parts as DLC. They only needed one generation for that. 😉
@Flaming_Kaiser oh true they also want more money, i was looking on the PS Store this morning and how many games are still at £50 when the physical versions are less than £20
i think on prices digital EA and Activision are probably the worse offenders
also the whole FFXV DLC thing was Tabata's idea and he's gone now so perhaps it might improve in the future
@FullbringIchigo And what annoys me even they keep releasing these awsome old games that where the complete package and i still can play on my PS1. And now they are download only its such a waste. 😢
Look me in the face and tell me that something like Shadow of the Colossus would not be awsome too look at and play in 10 years.
And not hope that you still play it when the after service goes offline.
Yes the old days where the best days where you got the most effort out off the developers and we got the complete package when we started it up. And if we wanted more there was a part 2. 😃
Not trying to pick a fight i just showing my frustration and my side of the story.😉
This generation we had 2 real Complete Editions Shadow of Mordor and Metal Gear Solid 5 with everything in there including the patches. 😢😔
@Flaming_Kaiser oh i too think the developers have gotten lazy with their "fix it with a patch later" attitude (looking at you Ubisoft) and the DLC practises of a lot of publishers, i just try not to let it bother me, i have accepted that that's how it is now and nothing i do or say is going to change that
all i can do is not buy a game day one anymore (apart from certain titles) and wait for it to go down in price when all the inevitable DLC and updates are out so i get it all at a decent price
oh and when it comes to EA games buying them used because after what they have done over the past few years they are never getting a penny from me again
@Kindaichi yeah i know, can you imagine if back in the ps1 days if final fantasy 7 instead of 3 discs shipped with only 1? there would be a outcry if that happened, these days it's considered acceptable.
@FullbringIchigo it's more of a case abusing the idea of patches and what they mean, now they use it for situations such as this and there are many other examples of devs abusing the patch system.
@Xaessya it already is with people trying to download 25gb of day one patch data with data caps and poor internet, i honestly feel sorry for them.
@Flaming_Kaiser Uncharted 4 is brutal for me, no youtube, twitter and internet comment section before I finished that game lol.
@Kindaichi This, people seem to forget that their are many people with Caps and bad internet, for example; I have 1mbps download speed but on my PS4 I only get about 860 kbps... I can't even play multiplayer games for the most part and to download a small patch (around 4gb) will take me about 12 or so hours.
Makes me jealous that people complain that 10+ mbps is so slow :/ I've had my internet like this for 8 years!!
Sorry, had to vent.
This is a weird move. I wonder if they will release a version that includes the ending shortly after release. Anyway, this is a good reason for me to wait for a GOTY version.
Also we should consider ourselves lucky. If it was developed by EA or Activision, we would need to unlock the ending with lootboxes.
RUMOUR: apparently a box of the XB1 version of the games was stolen from a dispatch store and contained about 30 copies by an employee and he sold about 10 of them before being caught
like i said that's the scuttlebutt going round
also i DO think second press runs will contain the missing content although Square shouldn't have had to so this in the first place, why can't people just be patient
@RawnDawn jesus christ man, that is awful.
