The PS4 exclusive Monkey King: Hero Is Back is releasing in China next year, with other parts of the world to follow. The colourful action adventure has a brand new trailer, which debuted during Sony's PlayStation LineUp Tour show. We see two children exploring a cave before they're ambushed by monsters, and they inadvertently free the Monkey King from his dormant state.
It doesn't provide much information, but it's quite amusing nonetheless. There is some gameplay of the game you can watch to give you an idea of what to expect, and it looks like a pretty harmless brawler/platformer. Are you looking forward to Monkey King: Hero Is Back? The gameplay looked mediocre at best, and a lot of teh enviroments looked either a bit empty or just were unnecessarily big (the golem boss arena for example). I have to admit that the graphics and animations are pretty good.
But then gain, you can say that to almost any chinese game on the PS4, including the bad/mediocre ones. Plus, the problem I have with the game is that despite the mainc character being a monkey god, there was barely any unique monkey-like abilities during gameplay. No tree climbing, no wall jumping, etc. I mean, it was just a demo, I know, but there's nothing to wrong to show a little concern. And I'm honestly won't be surprised if the peopl who said the game doesn't look too bad will go needlessly harsh on it.
