Monkey King: Hero Is Back, the PlayStation 4 exclusive being developed primarily for the Chinese market, has received a seven minute gameplay showcase. Recorded from the showfloor at this week’s ChinaJoy 2018 convention, the clip shows the eponymous hero running through lush tropical landscapes and attacking enemies.
While the combat looks perfectly serviceable, the movement speed gives the impression that the main character is wading through molasses, and needs to be improved prior to release next year. For those of you who don’t know, this project is being created as part of a collaboration between Sony, Oasis Games, and movie maker October Media. A Western release is planned.

Looks decent but nothing that truly stands out.
Looks promising (especially when compared to most other titles from Oasis) but the combat looks pretty sluggish, the envioments are kinda empty, and Wukong runs to slow (there IS a running button, right?). Hope they listen to player feedback, at least from us western gamers. Can't help but feel like chinese gamers seems to find every game they see, even the worst ones, a "GOTY" contender.
Shows promise but it looks kinda lacking.
Well...I've seen worse, but it still needs some polish. They better release a demo of the game soon for the west, even if I doubt that they'll even listen to the feedback.
Was hoping for something more like enslaved. This looked truly dull
It’s a good start, I really want more mid-tier games like this.
Somehow he is running to slow compared to how he moves.
And the fights also seem a bit slow.
It looks really nice i like the funny animations. But please the sound when he walks on the path is so loud. And tone down the sound effects.
