It's now over four months since Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom launched on PS4, and until today, not a word has been said about the DLC included in the game's season pass. Fortunately, Bandai Namco has finally given some vague details about what we can expect going forward.
Firstly, the Adventure Pack DLC has been announced, which brings new dungeon floors to Faraway Forest as well as new costumes, quests, and trophies. This pack is free for everyone, and will be made available on 9th August. As for the season pass content itself, the first of the two add-ons is coming this winter, and will contain a new dungeon. Lastly, the major story expansion will be making its way to PS4 early next year.
It's not quite the concrete information fans of the game are looking for, but at least we now know roughly when to expect the season pass content. We'll of course share more information as it emerges.

Good to hear!!!! Need to start playing again.
Nice to get some info on it but wait to late for me played it Plat'd it and sold it months ago
At least Bandai finally put some info out.
Neat that we're getting some free stuff through an update.
Im in two minds about this.
Firstly, great that BAMCO shared an update for those that bought the season pass. Thats good news. And it certainly seems like Level 5 only began making this content after the game was released, similar to the Witcher and Lost Legacy. This is a good thing.
On the otherhand, leaving until next year to drop the new story content seems too long in gaming time these days. Most who were interested in the game will have moved on by then. We already know next spring will be very busy for new releases (and catching up from the glut of games in the autumn that everyone will ignore when red dead 2 comes out)
As someone who nust bought the game but doesnt have the season pass, i am pleased at the extra content coming in August!
Disgraceful behaviour, we'll take your money and sit on it for months, meanwhile we won't give you an inkling as to what you've paid for.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Then don't buy season passes.
The dungeons were the worst part of the game, glad I didn't pay for this
major story expansion coming out early next year. umm that's great to hear but hopefully it not better not on same day along Days Gone and Metro or Resident Evil 2 remake because i gonna be very busy on playing those games
I like to believe that you guys pushed them for info with the last article lol
@AFCC I hope so 😂
"It's not quite the concrete information fans of the game are looking for"
Well it is a whole lot better than what we had though, which was nothing for 4 full months.
Hearing that there will be free new content in a few weeks is a really nice bonus - for those of us who haven't purchased the season pass anyway. I just started Chapter 7 last night, I have no idea how long the game is, but maybe I'll take a break after chapter 7 and wait for the update. As for the paid DLC coming in winter and next year - well seriously if it's going to be that late they shouldn't have even announced the season pass until E3. It's kind of crummy of them to collect $20 per person from people then make them wait almost a year and then a year for the stuff they paid for. Most season passes at release have content a lot sooner than that. XC2 and Zelda BotW dragged stuff out for nearly a year, but there was stuff along the way. It's going to be very hard for them to get people to pay Day 1 for their next game with service this slow. Though I guess they can always say "We're not Squenix and this isn't FFXV slow." That's set the bar really low for single player JRPG completion times.
This is why I don't buy Season Passes/
@rjejr Is that fair on Square? FF 15 was released in late November 2016 and the first story expansion was released in March 2017. Yes ignis took till December, but in the meantime, 15 received a heck of a lot of updates and a clear roadmap of what content was coming.
Not defending square taking 10 years to make the thing mind....
Does this game hold the record for being the fastest "Day One" version of a game to be regularly available at retail stores for $19.99?
@PS4fan Dont forget KH3 will be out at the end of January next yr. This is really bad release timing. Better late than never?
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Nobody forces you to buy a seasonpass. Why buy the pass when they dont have release dates.
@Rob_230 For me its insulting take 10 years and add 2 years of DLC with extra Edition (Royal Edition) which still not completes the game. 🤬
@Flaming_Kaiser “Nobody forces you to buy a seasonpass”
Between the US and the UK at least 3 editions were bundled with the season pass.
@3Above i think it should be out in March after people are done with Days Gone, Metro Exodus and Anthem
@Flaming_Kaiser The game only had 4 years of development though. Versus XIII was another entirely and was totally scrapped.
@PS4fan I agree, but delaying this even further would be a bad decision too 🙁 They just can't win.
@Rob_230 That's a fair point, FFXV was quick to update, on a fairly regular basis. I was looking at it from the other end, when is it ever going to end? They announced the new DLC in April 2018 for release in winter, spring and summer 2019, so that's over a year away. Though in Squenix's defense I dont' think you can actually pay for it yet even if you wanted to.
@Ryno lol where on earth do you see this game available for $19.99 (new)?
@Ryno I haven't seen it for less than $30, though I haven't looked that hard. I bought it for $35 about a month ago and I've seen it for $30 since.
The Lego games tend to drop to half in about 3 months. I think I've seen Lego Incredibles for $30 and it released in June. The games that release in Nov are usually half price by March. My kids got Lego Marvel 2 for Christmas and even on Switch it was $30 this spring. I'd say Lego games are by far the worst at holding their value.
The Last Guardian dropped to $25 in about 2 weeks in the UK and to $40 in about 2 months in the US. That's fast for a first party exclusive. Only Nitneod games I've ever seen drop like that were Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival and SFZ, but even they took a few months.

@Porco and @rjejr: I saw it in Meijer for $19.99. It wasn't even a sale price. It was a standard black and white barcode tag.
Friggin finally! I thought we would never get it.
But I won't have time to play it by August 9th because I have classes to go to. Ughhhhhhhh!
@Ryno I can believe it. Like anybody in the rust belt is playing JRPGs.
i live in canada... no idea what meijer was until you mentioned it. that is not a normal price for the game and must be some sort of clearance. here in canada the game is going for $50 everywhere...
@rjejr Haha no you are completely right. Square are being mad as a box of frogs with this one. I mean, great i suppose if they want to keep making content, but this isnt an mmo or something people will keep coming back to. I just dont know who they are making this stuff for anymore.
I really enjoyed my run of ff15, and even got the platinum, but i just cant see myself returning for a second season pass - last time i checked, the game already eats 100 gb of my hard drive - cant be bothered downloading all that again.
@Flaming_Kaiser yeah, as i said to rjejr, thats definitely an issue. Who is going to play season 2. It is a real shame. Squaresoft would have never left so many gaps in the story to sell as dlc later on.
My initial point was more that at least they released a road map for the dlc and it came relatively soon after release if that makes sense. The second season pass is crazy though.
@Porco I will pick up a copy and sell it to you for cheaper than your Canadian price!
@rjejr: What is a JRPG?? 😎
@3Above maybe beginning of January Before RE 2 remake and Kingdom Heart 3 coming out in late January
At least we finally have info on it. I'm not buying the game until Season Pass is ~$20 or they release the game with the Season Pass included (GOTY/Complete Edition).
@Ryno You had me there for as second as the emoji doesn't show up in the email. I deserved that.
Meijer does have a limited footprint though, and the game isn't even on their website. (Well at least not that I could find, me and my tyupos.) Not sure I would even know about them if not for my sister living in Michigan. I'll allow them though as a legitimate retailer, I know how big they are within their footprint.

@Rob_230 I got the game, w/ the web series on disc, hardcover guide, and the movie as Christmas gifts, along with the season pass - may have come w/ that version of the game, can't recall. I played all 4 episodes but couldn't be bother w/ the Royal Ed., I'd already spent enough time and money by then. I even enjoyed the 2 limited run carnivals for what they were worth. But I can't see myself being up for the 4 new episodes. I like those characters well enough, but I've moved on, to NNK2, w/ DQ11 and XC2 on my to play list. I guess when the "Royally, Royaller, Royalist Ed" ships on PS5 in 4k it will be a nice full experience for anyone yet to play it. Though with any luck they'll be playing FF7 Remastered instead by then. Maybe.
@rjejr: If you are ever in MI visiting your sis, hit me up and we can play some Wii mini.
@Ryno I was there for Christmas. When it snowed for 3 straight days and it seemed like they never plowed. State capital so all the politicians were off, nobody cares about the working man in MI - see Flint water. My hotel apologized for the guy not showing up but apologies didn't keep me from sliding my car into a curb and doing $488 worth of damage. So I told her we're only coming back for summer vacations from now on. Probably next summer.
Maybe the Switch Mini will be out by then. Switch Mini will be the opposite of the Wii Mini and require an always online connection to play your games, they'll all be streaming from the cloud.
@rjejr: Nice story there. Alrightm so next summer, Switch Mini or maybe even Switch Pro it is!
NnK2 is such a good game. Nothing it does is particularly excellent, apart from maybe the cel shaded graphics, but it all falls into place really nicely. One of those games where I was really happy while playing it, just got taken along for a nice ride. I bought the season pass at launch and it's nice to see them FINALLY announce something. Can't wait.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi While I think they should have said something sooner, it does at least seem that they didn't start working on it until after the game came out. It's a nice change. If all this expansive story stuff had come out within a month or two, people would have complained for paying for stuff that was already done. That said, they obviously knew what the finished product was gonna be a couple of months ago at least and should've at least said something about it then.
EDIT: Actually, since it's not even out for a while, it's likely they only recently started work on it. So it's a genuine case of new content they started on after the game shipped which makes a nice change. It's just a shame the game will feel so unfamiliar to us when we play the DLC.
