Tales fans, rejoice! What we once thought would never happen no matter how much we cried has become a reality: Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition is definitely happening.
We sniffed out rumours of it only this week, when an official site for the game was discovered. Given Bandai Namco's resistance to re-releasing everyone's most requested Tales of ever, you'd have been forgiven for taking it with a hefty pinch of salt.
Though we've only seen a trailer so far, the title suggests that all of the extra content in the Japanese version will feature here. It also appeared to feature four player split-screen multiplayer and upgraded visuals.
It hits PlayStation 4 later this year.

I really loved this game back on Xbox 360 but hated the fact we didn't get the superior PS3 edition. If this contains all the enhancements (include fully voiced), I would get this DAY ONE.
So is this good then? Like, good story and stuff?
Awesome! Now I won't feel left out whenever I hear people commending Vesperia as the best of the series, despite being exclusive the 360.
@kyleforrester87
The story is hit and miss, but shows off a more complete and darker protagonist compared to the other Tales games at the time and has a charming cast of characters. It has what I consider the best Tales battle system though, as by this point they had really perfected it. The Tales games after it switched the formula around for the worse IMO.
The main issue with the plot is that it doesn't have a big sense of urgency for much of the game, but I personally think that's a big part of the charm. The story is just very relaxed, though it does start tackling some moral issues regarding actions Yuri takes.
For me, Abyss had the best story, but Vesperia had the best gameplay, with Symphonia being a mix of the two and generally being quite good at both. I didn't care much for any of the Tales games past Vesperia, but I plan to give Berseria a chance soon.
@Onion Thanks!
@Onion @kyleforrester87 It's worth mentioning that on a broader perspective, Vesperia is generally regarded as being one of the best ever Tales games, alongside Symphonia.
Whether that's because it's a game that a lot of people missed out on due to Xbox 360 exclusivity is up for debate, but yeah.
This Winter gonna be lots of Tales of Vesperia.
I've been interested in playing this one for a while, so I'm very excited about this! I'm probably getting it on Switch for the portability
@FoxyGlen and @ShogunRock Does the "Coming to Xbox Store" watermark in the video mean this will be a digital exclusive?
Bottom left corner 10-15 seconds in...
I love the opening intro to this game. It's right up there with Alundra.
@ToddlerNaruto I think Microsoft just put that there to make a display of where you can get it. It later got announced for all platforms – would be very surprised if it wasn't on all the digital stores.
@ShogunRok
Oh yeah, I definitely agree with that sentiment. It's one of my all-time favorite Tales games, if not video games in general. I bought an Xbox 360 pretty much just to play Vesperia, if that puts any perspective on how good the game is!
@Onion Very excited to play it properly!
This is an amazing game. Story, characters, gameplay is all awesome. You sort of learn bits about the world as you go, but constantly. I can only compare it to FFX. You don't get spoon fed everything, but certain things you do learn help you to work out everything else on your own. That and the character revelations were the best I'd seen in a long time!
@FoxyGlen @ShogunRok You misunderstand, I was just asking if it was going to be digital exclusive, not Microsoft/XB1 exclusive.
As in, will it also be sold in retail stores physically?
@ToddlerNaruto Ah, my bad! I've just had a hunt around and I can't find a definitive answer. I'd be VERY surprised if this didn't have a physical release though. If I learn more, I'll let you know.
@FoxyGlen Thanks for trying and I do appreciate the fast responses .
