We really enjoyed Hitman’s episodic format, but its successor will launch as a full game from day one. IO Interactive has promised a regular stream of content drops and updates, but you won’t have to wait for any of the levels to arrive. Oh, and you’ll be able to play from 13th November – that’s not far away.
The debut trailer reveals the race track level that was teased earlier in the week. “Travel the globe and track your targets across exotic sandbox locations,” the official blurb reads. “From sun-drenched streets to dark and dangerous rainforests, nowhere is safe from the world's most creative assassin, Agent 47.”
There’ll also be a franchise first co-op mode in the form of Sniper Assassin. If you pre-order the game now, you'll be able to test out the sniping mission from today.

I didn't mind the episodic format of the first game, but I'm glad they're going away from it.
Can't wait.
@Deadlyblack The episodic format was kinda dumb...personally, I got my fill with the free episode they give you! I often thought about purchasing the entire game, but having to wait for new episodes and no platinum was a turn-off (dumb, I know).
I really liked episodic but I'm obviously very excited to have a bunch of new Hitman levels to look forward to. Can't wait.
Hopefully will now have a platinum too lol and no multiple definitive editions this time round please
The episodic format put me off from getting the last game. Since this one will be a full game from Day 1, I'm interested.
Not episodic makes it even better!! (I didn't mind the ep since I bought the game after the last one! I now do that with episodic games most of the time, I don't have the patience lol)
Great going back to being a full game, and not a tv show format!
Wow IO have been busy.
@JohnnyShoulder I know, right? To see a full sequel ready to launch this quickly, after the publisher turmoil they've had this past year, is nothing short of incredible.
Whilst I did wait for a full release of the latest Hitman game, I do understand that a lot of people liked the episodic format. I personally think that I made the right choice; the storyline attached to each episode was so limited, I'd have been frustrated waiting for the next two-minute cutscene to give my assassinings (that's a word, right?) some context.
I think Hitman 2 is gonna be the best of both worlds; a full game with a narrative to blast through in a weekend, but then elusive contracts, content drops and updates to keep people coming back to the trial-and-error sandbox gameplay element. More environments will likely get overhauls, too, like the part of Sapienza that became a film set for that specific DLC contract. I can see me playing the heck out of this for a couple weeks, but then leaving it installed on my HDD and checking back regularly for the odd afternoon here and there.
I'll definitely be picking this up come November (and adding my outstanding tasks and contracts from the previous game to my backlog, to get in a little practice... after all, these aren't exactly straightforward third-person action games).
I came to the Hitman kind of late with regards to the last game, I picked up the complete edition last Christmas.
It's a game that has remained installed ever since and I love to dip in here and there. The crazy thing is that I still haven't moved on past Paris yet as I have been working through every contract before I move to the next location.
Absolutely fantastic game, I guess I best get my skates on because I am really excited to hear of this sequel. I hope people buy it in droves and support the newly independent IO.
Nice, just hit us with a complete game.
Nice.word up son
I frickin hated the episodic format. There was no reason to do it that way, and I'm glad I chose to wait and get the complete edition when it came out. It was the best Hitman I played though! By far!
I can't wait for this! Day one buy for me!
I've been meaning to get back into this franchise for some time. We need some good stealth games.
Great news, I just hope they make a sale of the first game on PSN because I still need to play it, lol.
Wow they finally got it ! Now I'm in, definitely. I think they lost a lot of buyers with the episodic format.
Oh sweet. Hopefully it'll have a platinum so I have a reason to do all the extra stuff. You know, a reason aside from fun.
And here I am still messing around in Sapienza.
This is good news, means I'll only have to wait a year before it drops to $25!
No more waiting for complete edition nonsense, thanks IO!
