EA has announced new content arriving for Star Wars Battlefront 2 after months of speculation. New characters will be added to the roster, including fan favourites Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, General Grievous and Count Dooku.
Along with the unveiling is the title for their next season named The Clone Wars, and a new addition to the current Han Solo season, which will receive and new map and mode, available June 12th.

honestly the game has changed a lot since it's initial release and we have been asking for Clone Wars content for ages so it's about damn time
If the game had released like it is now it could have done so much better.
Great, Count Dooku and General Grievous were two of the best characters from the prequels imho.
Will Anakin Skywalker have a special 'whiney' attack where he annoys all the other players, and perhaps a power that gets sand 'everywhere'.
Finally, the worst Star Wars game I've ever played meets the worst Star Wars film I've ever seen 😁
Hmm.. So SWBF 2 is only $18 now. With all the updates is it worth the buy?
The more characters the better! As is, there’s barely anyone to choose from. I think they should also expand the Heroes & Villains mode so it’s more like Overwatch or LawBreakers with larger teams and different game types. Man, I love playing that mode.
Personally, I’d rather have Rogue One content! The problem with that movie tho is that it has plenty of hero characters but no real villains.
@Elodin You still have to buy the DLC separately. I'd wait for a GOTY/Complete Edition if you can be patient.
@Elodin @ToddlerNaruto All of the DLC maps, characters and gameplay mode updates for Battlefront II are free. The epilogue to the single player campaign was free, too. Only alternate skins and ability-boosting Star Cards cost anything, and it's mostly all in-game currency earned by playing. They have switched microtransactions back on, but the only thing they seem to exclusively buy are alternative hero outfits, like Hoth Luke, Bounty Hunter Leia and Skiff Guard Lando.
For less than twenty bucks, there's a decent Star Wars experience in there, for sure. Some of it will forever be tainted by the controversy but, to their credit, it's made a big effort to move on.
@smelly_jr The first EA Battlefront had a Rogue One DLC pack with two different Scarif maps, Jyn Erso as a hero and Director Krennic as a villain. Something tells me that they may end up porting some of that content over; Scarif briefly appears in the campaign, so the assets are already in there.
Loads of people want Governor Tarkin playable, and were disappointed when the first game's Death Star DLC came with Bossk instead. With Tarkin and Krennic, some kind of Imperial Officer Pack could work really well.
Despite being a HUGE fan of the prequel era and overjoyed at the new characters announced, I'd also be happy seeing more love for Rogue One.
@RogerRoger Oh yeah...I forgot about that! I have Battlefront on PS4, but I had abandoned the game by then (not to mention that I didn't have the season pass). I've got access to the complete edition for free (well, $5/mo) on EA Origin Access so I may check it out! Hopefully the community isn't dead...
@ToddlerNaruto To add to RogerRoger, I'm pretty sure that all of the microtransaction skins in the game can be obtained with in-game credits (20,000 to 40,000 each, although some are unlocked by in-game achievements) that you get after every match, depending on how well you play. Also, there are still lootboxes, but it's only in the form of a daily box which always contains 500 to 750 credits.
@smelly_jr It should still be fairly active, especially considering many shunned Battlefront II and it's been featured in a couple sales of late.
The Scarif and Death Star DLCs were actually really great, because they featured three-part matches with hints of a narrative. Of course, if one side was particularly good, they could end things in the first part, but getting to play it all out could be pretty exciting. It's where the inspiration came from for Battlefront II's Galactic Assault mode, only all the maps are different and they mix space and ground phases, so I actually think it's better.
Also, almost forgot; Rogue One content is in both games in the form of Deathtroopers. It's a little thing, but they're there (and so cool)!
And you're right about the currency in Battlefront II. I got confused; it's because microtransactions buy Crystals which, as far as I can see, you only need huge quantities of to buy hero outfits. Thanks for the clarification!
@RogerRoger thanks for the info. I think I will pick it up. I'm sure I will get killed quicker than you can say pew-pew, but hopefully not for long.
@smelly_jr @RogerRoger My apologies, I just assumed the game had paid story DLC.
Good to know it's all free except for cosmetic stuff that can be bought with in-game credit.
@Elodin Oh don't worry, I'm sure you'll survive longer than I do!
@ToddlerNaruto Hey, I was as shocked as you are; this is EA we're talking about, after all.
@RogerRoger Well they did screw up with the lootbox/microtransaction stuff the first time around, that's for sure.
