In every Assassin's Creed game up until now, harming enough innocent non-playable characters has resulted in you being 'desynced'. Essentially, this is a game over state -- you're taken out of the game and respawned. Now, we doubt most players attempt to go on regular killing sprees in Assassin's Creed titles, but if you happened to whack a civilian during combat or, as was often the case in past entries, perform an accidental assassination on some poor bugger who just happened to be walking by, it'd be annoying to have the game scold you.
Fortunately, Assassin's Creed Odyssey won't have any of that crap. Instead of giving you a stern wag of the finger and an eventual desync for causing chaos, Odyssey will just slap a bounty on your head. In similar fashion to Grand Theft Auto, you'll apparently be saddled with a kind of 'wanted level', and certain groups will hunt you down in an attempt to punish you for your crimes.
All in all, it sounds like a welcome addition, and it seems to gel with the game's newfound role-playing elements. But what do you make of it? Summon the guards in the comments section below.

I will murder everyone.
I don't think this new bounty system will be there only for the civilian kills. Hopefully, we don't have to be on the run constantly, I don't want to be rushed while playing such open world games.
I hope we can somehow kill that smug git Shaun Hastings.
Finally! After failing a mission five times, you sometimes just need to kill a few civilians to feel you're alive.
I sound like a psychopath now.
They need to patch this crap out of Ghost Recon Wildlands because sometimes it's annoying when civis get in the way or mortar strike or grenade explosion and you can kill 2 or 3 and it's game over. It's especially annoying when your doing one of then surveillance missions and half way through you may run over some and game over restart the whole mission again
@Nakatomi_Uk Oh yeah, I forgot it happened in Wildlands, too. Annoying.
Sounds great to me...
Hmm I always like the desync punishment. It made you focus on accuracy (which as a pro assassin you should be doing) and since the brotherhood were supposedly the good team, that reinforced that. Granted I can count on my hand the number of times I've taken out a civilian by mistake. Now knocked their laundry out of their hand or whatever they were carrying? Yeah totally.
