Assassin's Creed Odyssey was blown wide open during Ubisoft's E3 2018 press conference. It got a full announcement trailer (embedded above) and a lengthy gameplay demo (embedded below). And yes, as the leak prior to the show suggested, it launches this year, on the 5th October.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway here is that it's going full role-playing game, as demonstrated in the demo. It's got more equipment and loot, and even player choice through dialogue options. It's basically building on what Assassin's Creed Origins went for.
Speaking of which, Odyssey looks a lot like its predecessor -- right down to the kill animations. That said, it's clear Odyssey is looking to be a lot more expansive in terms of general scope. We're looking at naval battles, full-on skirmishes with dozens of troops on land, and other revamped systems. Oh, and you get to choose between two characters at the start of the game -- one male, one female. Again, as was leaked.

I put 120 hours into Origins and its DLC, and I thought I'd be burned out... But I can't wait to give this a go.
to much RPG stuff (ac should never be a full RPG)
to much naval combat (according to the leak it will almost be as much as black flag)
but the game looked great from a visiual standpoint and ancient greece is great so that's a thing.
Haven't touched this series since Black Flag. I'm tempted.
The game looks absolutely gorgeous. I was planning on getting Origins soon, but I might just wait and grab this instead.
Even though I am against the annualisation, I must say I'm really excited that we are having an assassain's creed game on Greece, now that Kratos has left us. It's looking beautiful, too, with all the vibrant colors. However, as a greek speaker, I should say I'm not a big fan of the actors' accents.
I loved Origins! I'm getting this day one. The funny thing is the series never did much for me in till Origins.
I reckon I'll be up for it by the time it releases. I loved the naval fights in Black Flag but didn't like them in Origins and wanted them over as quickly as possible.
I loved Origins - I too also put in over 100hours, completed everything (every '?') - inc both DLC's too so this will definitely be a Day 1 for me.
I'm stoked for this, loved origins. I'm really interested to see how much difference the dialogue options make to the game. Kassandra had some killer moves.
@ApostateMage I'm with you on the naval fights. Black Flag was fun but it was the weakest part of Origins. Hopefully it will be more like Black Flag
We have boat combat again! HURRAY
The game looks great but why all these editions.
1 Steelbook Edition
2 Deluxe Edition
3 Digital Gold Edition
4 Pantheon Edition
5 Ultimate Edition
6 Spartan Edition
WTF
Origins was great so I'm really looking forward to giving this a go... eventually. I was hoping it would be taking a year off again and all these similarities to Origins (interface, animations etc) only serve to strengthen that opinion. It makes it look more like a spinoff in the same vein as Ezio's sequels and Rogue, rather than the next main entry in the series.
@jdv95 I think becoming full RPG is what saved AC. It was getting worse every episode since AC3.
Haven’t played Creed since the first one. This and the previous game are very appealing to me. Going full RPG definition piques my interest.
Looks great. Loved what Origins was doing and getting more of it is good.
@stevenfins I was never into AC games, but I might change my opinion now considering the theme and the game becoming more RPG-like.
The Greek accent didn't bother me at all. Though to be honest I can't tell for sure if it gets annoying after a while or you get used to it and don't even notice it anymore.
I'm loving ac origins I'm 108 hrs in and still going, completed the hidden ones I've still to complete the main story game as I'm still busy completing many quests, I'm leveled up to 45 it's a brilliant game, I've already pre-ordered my odyssey which looks even better can't wait to explore ancient Greece as I have done Egypt.
