Petitions never, ever work in the video game industry, but with nearly 80,000 people signing a petition to take the Star Wars game license away from Electronic Arts, it's clear that many consumers want to send a message to the controversial company following their antics of the past few weeks.
EA's relationship with its customers has turned very sour over the past few months thanks to the Star Wars Battlefront II microtransaction fiasco, and it clearly looks like it hasn't learned after their implementation in UFC 3's beta.
The petition states: "EA have had the Star Wars video game license for the last four years, and in that time they've proven to their consumers that they honestly don't care about the gameplay experience or content, they'd rather rush out a game that will try and milk as much money out of consumers as possible."
Have you signed this petition? Whip out your pitchforks in the comments below.

Lmao, please tell me that lead photo is from a meme or something. Really? For a game? We all know EA is greedy, but ultimately it is the consumer that holds the power. Don't like EA's money grabbing practices, don't buy their games. They'll learn real quick. Simple.
@Turismo4GT It was something to do with Dante’s Inferno if my memory serves me correctly.
I'm gonna use "Electronic Anti-Christ" all the time now.
Last time I signed a petition I got roped into a call list for lonely singles in my area. Apparently there are a lot of them because they call me every hour of the day, but it's strange because most of them have an Indian accent. Not that that's like a bad thing or anything I just didn't know. It's 2017 people you can be whatever you want to be and just because you have a missing arm, a lazy eye, and a club foot doesn't mean you can't find love. You can always get a cat or dog, or if you're as I described like ferret, rat, or some kind of rodent.
Anyways don't sign these things they're just a globalist ploy to get your information so they can put your name on the Organ Donor list. Don't go to hospitals either those places are death camps.

@get2sammyb ah I see, just read up on it, thanks for the reference.
Those 80,000 people would do well to just buy one of the zillion better games out there.
@DLB3 I'd like to think that whenever I see a comment like that the person is always joking, but unfortunately I'm wrong too much of the time.
As for my comment. I was serious.
Seriously outrageous.
EA has clearly passed the point of consumer tolerance. They’re going to need to do some serious damage control or...oh wait, UFC’s doing the same thing? Huh. Weird.
But seriously, petitions are rarely successful, and this one reads too ranty to be a good one. Should have been short and simple. Enough signatures though and it could beat the odds and hurt EA’s partnership. Really though, who else is big enough, with enough money to buy the licensing for Star Wars? No one who will do a much better job.
I wouldn't say petitions in the video game industry never work. Petitions brought Digimon games back to the West.
This, however isn't going to do a thing. At most EA gets some bad publicity.
80,000 signatures is still far too insignificant for Disney to even care. Maybe if it was 8 millions, but do you really think they care about just 80,000 signatures? That number is too small for them to even acknolwedge this.
I don’t think the problem is that they’re rushing games because that visceral one was cancelled after having been worked on for 3+ years. The way they treat their customers definitely needs to change though
80000?, well, still is low (especially for a online petition), but it's something, really is needed many more for, not only revoke Star Wars' License from EA, also, make to EA understand that consumers are not happy about their greed and bad decisions.
I say sign with your wallet. Don't buy it and moan. Just don't buy it full stop. Then disney will take notice
EA have been scum for ages, but people still mindlessly buy their games. Simply don't buy them! It's not hard. I haven't bought an EA game in about 6 or 7 years now.
People can sign the petition and not buy it. It's not an either/or.
@3MonthBeef while I see your point, it kinda seems to me that it shows a lack of a bit of common sense and thought of long term consequences when people see and experience the fleecing EA and companies of that ilk engage in and still buy the games because 'they like their games'. Now I don't want to see anyone lose their jobs and not be able to support their families, but these decisions to nickel and dime the very base that supports them come from the top. Stop taking their crap, stop buying the games (even used) and they will get the idea loud and clear that we as gamers support them, treat us right. Make good, fun games that don't try to gouge our eyes out with nonsensical microtransactions and we'll treat you right.
@kyleforrester87 exactly.
Signed.
I think petitions are great but there are legal contracts at play here. My advice is to do what I am doing if you care - just don't buy any EA game regardless of price or just don't buy any game that supports this practice. I might sign but it would need to be several million strong to get traction.
It's all bot signatures. Everyone loves EA.
Of that 80,000, I'd bet 60k will still buy SWBF2 when it goes on sale for $20.
EA have some great franchises with a loyal fanbase. The petition is a waste of time and 80k signatures is not many compared to the size of the gaming community.
Petitions usually get ignored but it would be nice to see a company with a soul get a chance with the license, however unlikely.
@RedMageLanakyn You don't have to bet most of them did and the rest of them will buy it when the new movie releases.
@get2sammyb Which is hilarious because Dante's Inferno was written by a religious person in the first place. And in the game itself, you are FIGHTING demons.
It’s so nice to see such a big effort to bring change to publisher greed. It’s a shame it’s only being done because of the popularity of Star Wars but hopefully it will help scare other companies into not pulling this crap anymore with our games.
@NinjaWaddleDee Only Jesus gets to fight demons, m'kay?!
How did battlefront 2 do anyways? if it sold 79,999 copies maybe disney will care.
Where do i sign up?!
