Gran Turismo Sport is almost here and it’s got about a tenth of the content you’d expect from a Polyphony Digital title – but we’re not going to let small issues like that ruin our fun, are we? To be fair, having played the title a few times now, it definitely feels great behind-the-wheel – and we suspect that’s what the Japanese developer is banking on.
Either way, it sounds like you’ll have an opportunity to find out for yourself, as Sony has hinted that a new beta for the simulation racer is right around the hairpin bend. This is only mentioned on the European PlayStation Blog – the sentence is mysteriously missing from the North American post – but apparently all will be revealed imminently.
The platform holder may want to get a move on, as the game launches in little over a month on the PlayStation 4. It’s only taken four years.

Got this on Pre-order.. have to be honest it's the main reason I bought a PS4 in the first place (3 years ago)
I have a question, I've read in a few places this this game is going to be mainly online focused.
My PS Plus expired in August and I didn't renew it because I hardly ever bother to play online and none of the free monthly games ever really appealed so I didn't feel it was worth renewing.
Can anyone say if this game is still worth me buying without a PS Plus account? Will it still have a decent single player side to it.
The thing I've always loved about Gran Turismo games is earning your licences and working your way through the cups & competitions to earn money and buy your favourite cars.
Will we still be able to do all that?
@Marios-love-child check out the PlayStation blog's new GT post. It details all the campaign modes and it looks rather filthy. Filthy in a good way as there is a lot more campaign stuff to do than I anticipated so I'm also pretty excited now

"It's got about a tenth of the content people expect from a Polyphony Digital title" is that going to be the narrative for this game now?
@1eyedlink @Marios-love-child It sounds heavily online focused to me. I'd recommend getting a PlayStation Plus sub and enjoying it the way it's intended. Have a browse of that PS Blog post, though, as mentioned.
@adf86 I mean, it's undeniable really. Doesn't mean it won't be good, though. I'm personally really looking forward to it.
@1eyedlink
I'm hoping so, whilst I appreciate online gaming is a massive thing now you can't beat a good single player model..... especially when its one of your flagship games.
Always online isn't for everyone
Not being a huge gearhead in general but as a gamer who always gets interested by Gran Turismo, I'm kind of looking forward to this title having a little less content in a way.
@roe Yeah, I know what you mean. The PS3 versions were a bit bloated.
Sounds good but still no word on turbo kits or nitrous which is a big thing for any die hard GT fan in arcade mode & private lobbies, taking a slow stock car and suping it up to ridiculous HP levels! lol "tires, brake bias, suspension, aerodynamics, drivetrain, transmission, and power to weight ratio" still a bit vague. They could always add a more traditional GT career mode later gradually in small amounts via DLC.
I have some Beta-Feedback for PD: Give us a classic career mode. I want to start with my used Nissan family car and work my way up to all the pretty racing cars they show in the trailers.
There is one category Sony is behind Xbox: racing games. They should have made a game with a complete single player mode to rival the new Forza. Instead Yamauchi is so obsessed with the idea of developing real racing skills, he focuses on the online-competitive side of the game which leads to being able to acquire a real racing license.
We'll probably have to wait for Gran Turismo 7 which will arrive 2023 on Ps5.
Still looks like there is zero single player content outside of the driving school challenges. Really disappointing.
I'll just use it as a VR game. Shame it's only 1 on 1 but 135 cars on 27 tracks makes up for that. From all the previews, I was only expecting a few cars on a couple of courses in VR, so to get all of that is a nice surprise.
I'm still looking forward to it, but with less content and a more online focus, I'm wondering if it will be a true Gran Turismo. That's been the thing for me since it's announcement.
@get2sammyb If it's taken them 4 years to get 1/10 the content maybe they should think about skipping PS5 entirely and getting the next game ready as a PS6 launch title. And no I'm not joking. They can just port some of the older games to PS5 as ULTRA 4K VROOM Editions.
@get2sammyb Same here but too many people think their entitled to some kind of single player campaign when all along PD said that GT Sport marked a change in direction for the series.
I already have Project Cars 2 pre-ordered, and Forza 7 is a potential purchase, so GT Sport is pretty low down on my "to-buy" list of racing games (not to mention F1 2017 & Dirt 4 both still keeping me busy!).
@Marios-love-child I found this in the blog post:
This doesn’t mean you’ll need PlayStation Plus though. As with all PlayStation titles, PS Plus will only be needed for the online multiplayer, portions of the Arcade Mode, including limited two-player split screen, single player races on select tracks and time trials can still be played offline.
@SMKpaladin
I realise PS plus isn't essential to play the game, I was just wondering if there's enough of a game left to justify a purchase.
From what I've been reading if you takeaway the online aspects of it, it sounds like we're left with the bare bones of a game in comparison to previous GT entries
I've no personal interest in Playing online so wondering whether its worth buying the game or not
