Haha, this one's funny because there's naff all to know about Square Enix's newly announced The Avengers project. But this is the Internet, so we'd be doing you a disservice if we didn't desperately fill the dead air with some speculation. And actually, there are a few things that we can infer about the Crystal Dynamics developed game – even if we won't see any more until next year.

The first is that this probably confirms rumours that Shadow of the Tomb Raider is being worked on by Eidos Montreal, with Crystal Dynamics moving on to pastures new. And that probably means that Deus Ex has been put on hiatus – especially after Mankind Divided didn't exactly set the sales charts alight.

As for the game itself, well, we can assume that The Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America will all feature. Could this be some kind of complex co-op game? Squint and it seems possible, but Crystal Dynamics is better known for its single player action adventures, so that's probably what it will be.

And yeah, that's about it really, isn't it? The game's set in a different universe to Sony and Insomniac Games' Spider-Man, and it sounds like it's going to see superheroes cast aside as part of some kind of pseudo-political metaphor. But they'll be back kicking ass before too long, don't worry – the trailer ends with the hashtag #Reassemble after all.
