Remember Rime? The sumptuous looking indie title turned a lot of heads when it was originally revealed at Sony's GamesCom press conference back in 2013, and for a couple of years after that, we were all eager to hear more about the promising PlayStation 4 exclusive.
However, in March of this year, for whatever reason, Sony decided to ditch the project. A few months later, it was revealed that Rime would no longer be a PS4 exclusive, and it was pushed into 2017. Now, as spotted by Gematsu, the game has been rated in Brazil for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This could also mean that the title isn't too far away - but that obviously remains to be seen.
Still, this is just another chapter in the saga that has been Rime's development. You have to imagine that Sony had a good reason to drop its support for the project, so it'll be interesting to see whether Rime actually ends up being any good. Of course, it goes without saying that we hope it turns out well, and we should hear more about the release in the relatively near future if it is indeed launching next year.
What's been your take on Rime? Do you think it'll live up to those initial expectations from all those years ago? Take a walk in the comments section below.

I recommend everyone waits for official gameplay before getting excited for this.
For a game that was originally meant for 1 platform and now it's coming to 3 others is reason for concern. Doing so many ports is never a good thing unless you stagger them. That's what hurt Mighty No 9, too many versions to make for launch.
Look at that, a PS4 exclusive not being exclusive anymore
The game look interesting, exclusive or not, I hope it turned out to be good.
Was excited but like the article says, Sony aren't in the game of dropping good games for no reason. Keeping an eye but also dubious how it'll come out.
Still love the art style though...
Quite an interesting video about it here:

Looks lovely to me but I'm sure that many would agree that looks alone aren't a guarantee of a great game.
Sony "lost" this exclusive because apparently it wasn't making progress. So... Temper your expectations.
@get2sammyb "because apparently it wasn't making progress"
Did you temper your expectations for TLG 5 years later? Not saying this will be good or bad, but that's twice now in the comments you bad mouthed a game you know little about. Seems unnecessarily harsh. How about giving it a chance?
@BLP_Software Good timing on this news huh BLPS.
Definitely concerned about this game. I have zero issue with this going multi-plat, but Sony HAD to have a good reason for giving up the exclusivity. as others have said, I guess the devs were missing deadlines etc. Surely they should concentrate on getting this released on one or two platforms before announcing more? Will be very interested to see how this turns out
@rjejr Im loving the change from "Yooka-Laylee no longer on Nintendo and gets release date" where he states "Looking forward to it now", and this where hes putting it down.
Though I agree with @get2sammyb to not be hopeful before footage but the interest is there. And Sony isnt beyond duds. No Mans Sky happened. They held onto Last Guardian. Shenmue 3? I mean theyll hold something. So this is either a dudnor a deal couldnt be struck. I expect the latter personally. Moneybis the only guaranteed reason two corporations wouldnt work together.
@BLP_Software Except No Mans Sky was going to make money for them, TLG was a hugely important game amongst PlayStation's fanbase and Shenmue 3 is still been made.
Most likely Rime kept missing deadlines and Sony got tired so cut their funding. If the game had potential to attract big enough sales then they may have stuck with it but since this was announced 2 and ahalf years ago and we still haven't seen gameplay speaks volumes.
It must be bad because Sony dropped it!!
Of course it could of been dropped for other reasons than the time taken and maybe not progressing in the direction they wanted/were trying to stipulate. Maybe they pulled out because the 'cost' was too high for the 'profit/interest etc' that this game was generating. Point is we may never know the full details and its easier to make up some excuse that's not going to reflect on them. With the commercial state of Sony overall, its possible they dropped this for financial reasons. I know their game division is successful but it could be an expensive investment for what it could bring in when that money could go to something more popular or offset some of the problems with its other ventures.
Time will tell if this game lives up to the initial expectations. Personally I couldn't care less if this (or any game) went multi-platform. For me I would much prefer that all games were multi-platform with no 'exclusivity bonus' deals either. That way I could just buy one device and all games would be available - much like buying a Bluray Player, Hifi etc. People can then buy the console they prefer based on things like controller for example. I know that won't happen though.
For the developers of this game, it could work out more beneficial for them. A wider audience to sell to, a chance at greater revenue and more creative freedom - not saying Sony were dictating the direction but its just one possibility.
It wasn't a game I was interested in anyway. It will be interesting to see how it reviews and even whether it resembles one of Sony's own in-house projects or other exclusivity deals. If it is similar to another game, Sony may have dropped it for fear of competition for sales.
There a very good reason for Sony dropping this and its not sounding too good, especially after NMS. Its been in development for a good three years and still nothing, that alone is not very promising.
@rjejr Completely different situation. Sony dropped this game because it was constantly missing milestones; they never did that with The Last Guardian.
Maybe the developers wanted Rime to only be a timed exclusive and Sony wasn't satisfied with that. That would be understandable on both sides.
There were some stories going around when it was first dropped that it was all a scam. Apparently the footage they showed at gamescom was all CGI and they had no game to show after months of development. Hope it's good, but Sony must have had good reason to drop all funding and take back the dev kits. No chance this comes retail though.
@JoeBlogs: I feel the same about Nier: Automata. When it was first announced as a PS exclusive I was super excited for it. Since then it has been announced for PC, XB1 may fellow and I've lost all interest. Guess I like my PS exclusives .
Multi platform release makes a lot more sense than keeping it as a Sony exclusive. They did the right thing. Can not say the game interests me never heard of it.
The only way we will know is when we get the game.
I don't think we should slam a game pre-release because Sony dropped it but I do agree that it was obviously dropped for a reason. It may have nothing to do with the quality of the game but if something you are investing in is not hitting deadlines or following an agreed plan you have to make the choice to continue or withdraw. It may well be that they didn't feel the price tag would be met with the revenue.
@get2sammyb Wasn't this game going to be published by GameTrust? Their new publishers are Greybox and Six Foot...
