Final Fantasy XV's road trip premise is ripe for some kind of online co-op, and that's exactly what you'll be getting post-release. To coincide with the long-awaited title going gold today, Square Enix has revealed the contents of the outing's controversial $24.99 Season Pass. And one of the add-ons, named 'Comrades', will bring online play.

First up, though, you'll get three original episodes each centring on one of protagonist Noctis' pals. According to the press release, these will span "all-new adventures that offer unique play styles tailored to each character". You'll be able to "explore previously unseen areas filled with new monsters, and even obtain weapons that can later be used in the main game".

But that's not all: "Comrades – an expansion pack for Final Fantasy XV – will introduce a brand-new online co-op mode for up to four players which features intense battles allowing players to take full control of Noctis, Gladio, Prompto, and Ignis as a group. Comrades will be available for separate purchase, and is also included in the Season Pass."

It seems like a good fit for the game, but we'd caution against pre-purchasing the add-ons packs until you've decided whether you like the main campaign.
