This is tense, isn't it? Capcom's released a new Resident Evil 7 trailer to coincide with Gamescom 2016, and it really ratchets up the tension. The clip takes the form of some found footage – which should be familiar to anyone who played the recent demo – and sees a woman attempting to send a message to a man named Ethan. Unfortunately for her, she's being stalked by a lady with really bad dental hygiene. That'll be Marguerite, then, we assume.
You won't be playing the character in this trailer, and the action appears to take place beneath the house in the first teaser. The publisher's being purposely cryptic with this game, as the video actually raises more questions than it answers. That's quite exciting, though, as this is obviously a real change of pace for the Resident Evil franchise, which has been much needed in our eyes. Playing this in virtual reality, however? We're not sure that we'll be able to hack it.

Looks realy good, I'm glad capcom aren't giving much away
This isn't the RE I grew up with. But neither was RE4, 5, 6 and Revelations. If I have to choose between this and the last RE games of the past 10 years, I choose this in a heartbeat.
As long as RE keeps the core RE monsters (zombies, lickers, hunters) with this game's atmosphere, we could be looking at something truly phenomenal.
I hope its more like PT than Outlast, I prefer pure Horror to Survival rubbish, not too much darkness, not too much running. I'll be happy. I hated isolation, wasn't any kind of fun getting ripped apart by xenomorphs round every corner.
i'll be honest, i'm not feeling this one, then again i'm not a big fan of 1st person games in general
i still think Resident Evil games should be 3rd person with fixed cameras, you feel a lot more trepidation when you can't see what's coming round the corner
5 months from release, a demo, a couple of trailers and we still don't know if this will essentially be Outlast/Silent Hills or if it'll carry any Resident Evil staples other than healing herbs. Very weird way to market this game, but hopefully it delivers.
I think a bit of wee came out.
Not sure I can handle this in VR.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Pure horror is about running and hiding. Survival Horror is about having a chance to fight back. Alien Isolation was 10 times more Survival Horror than Outlast or Amnesia ever were. The alien was the only thing your character couldn't kill - anything else was fair game.
RE Revelations games nailed it.
If this is going for that all out demonic evil then count me out.
they should really start showing the real gameplay... it's getting draggy & dodgy...
It's still scary looking, although the lack of actual gameplay concerns me. Even if it's creepy and first person, RE should still have combat and puzzles of some sort.
I'll remain cautiously optimistic for the moment.
I watched an interview i think ign did the other day with milla jovovich and im sure she said the bloodshot in the new movie is going to be in the new game which i asssume shed have to be talking about 7
this game is horrible that is not resident evil.
The demo raised my interest, however this trailer does not. I just did not feel much from watching this.
The first person works well in the narrow and confined spaces presented here.
@Nickolaidas generally I find running and hiding mechanics in horror games boring with the exception of siren blood curse, PT was the best nugget of gaming horror, that had no running and hiding. For me personally suspense and fear aren't enhanced by running away or skulking in a dark corner.
Those candles look like a right fire hazard to me! Very scary stuff!
I'm not sold on this yet, but I generally do not like first person games. I really want more Revelations to tell the truth. I hope they keep going with that series.
