Are you minxes still pulling the plug on your PlayStation 4 each time that you lose in Street Fighter V? You won't be able to get away with that League Points saving tactic for much longer, as Capcom has said that it will finally roll out an update to punish cheaters later this month. It probably should have had some kind of rage quit system in place from day one β but then, it probably should have had some single player modes, too.
There's no word on when exactly we can expect the update, but that's Capcom's modus operandi right now. It will, however, arrive this month, so that's good. Bizarrely, the publisher's been retroactively punishing rage quitters using footage captured directly from the PS4 by honest players. You'd think that it would have been easier to, y'know, fast-track this update than review everything manually.
Street Fighter V, folks.

I'd appreciate it if those negative undertones would be toned down a bit. We get it, Capcom has made many mistakes with SFV, but there's no need to point it out in every single article, even moreso when it's not even relevant to the update at hand.
As to the actual (relevant) news >_>... I'm glad there's finally a system coming into place to punish those ragequitters. I'm hoping it'll do a good job at it, too. It's always a bit disheartening as a honest player to lose your points whenever you get beaten, but then not earn any of them back because your fellow opponent won't hold that L.
@Arjan127 But it is relevant, as evidenced by your own comment:
"It's always a bit disheartening as a honest player to lose your points whenever you get beaten, but then not earn any of them back because your fellow opponent won't hold that L."
It sucks and it shouldn't have been this way at launch.
@get2sammyb "but then, it probably should have had some single player modes, too."
ahem
again, a fair enough point, it's not one I disagree with. Just not a fun thing to be reading again and again every time there's an update.
Criticism is fair. Anyway, I really want to play some chaps here. Can we get a tournament going @get2sammyb ?
YES! I lost many points to these jerks...a german player named italodavid was the worst offender in my experience. It popped up in my match ups very often and would disconnect EVERY SINGLE TIME he lost. I started disconnecting as soon as I saw it was him in the VS load screen...
Not really thrilled since I barely find matches in the first place.
I want single player modes and April's character.
That's nice.
What about punishing lag switch users? They're just as bad as rage quitters...
@Arjan127 When you're constantly reminded of a failure, it makes it less likely you'll forget it when they go to release SF6, and maybe you'll think twice about spending your money on a potential POS. Just my two cents.
@get2sammyb if it sucks then why did this site give it a 9/10???
@Napples the game can't be that much of a failure. This site gave it a 9/10 π
@Michaelkirk02 I know right mate? Not to mention Capcom was extra clear about what was in the game and wasn't and when they were going to release other content, so if you weren't interested you could just wait or not buy it.
That said, an arcade mode is basic and I don't blame people for expecting it to be there. On all the other stuff: get some information before you buy anything, not just games. The game itself is a gem. Best fighter I played since SF3.
@Michaelkirk02 Because it plays amazingly?
I haven't ran into any rage quitters, guess I got lucky with that. Then again, I'm not the best player when it comes to rank matches lol.
@get2sammyb so glad I trusted you guys on this. It's been in my PS4 since launch.
@get2sammyb plays amazingly? You need to look at your review system and street fighter articles then. You can't justify a 9/10 on that alone. This article and every Sfv article since launch. states that the rage quitting and lack of single player content have impacted the experience. Your articles since the games launch have in no way backed up that review score. The review itself says it has an excellent online playground. How can that be if people are rage quitting on you??
Street Fighter V is an amazing game. The 9/10 is deserved. It has flaws yes, but it's one of the best 2D fighters EVER
@get2sammyb I'm not saying I dislike the game. That's far from it. It's just that the street fighter v articles and the review don't add up. They don't go hand in hand. Because as @Arjan127 says the articles are very negative towards it.
@Michaelkirk02 I've already said before that I wished we wouldn't have attached a score. It's something we have to learn from unfortunately.
You'll notice that we spent an extra week with Dark Souls III before adding the score so that we could properly test its online.
EDIT: To be clear: we did play a lot of Street Fighter V online prior to launch, but we should have waited to play it in a retail environment. Also, the person we got to review the game is a semi-pro player. We thought that his deeper insight on the mechanics would be beneficial, but obviously he, like Capcom, misinterpreted the importance of single player content.
You live and you learn. I still think it's a 9/10 game, but for me personally, it's missing the features I want out of a fighting game.
@Michaelkirk02 my two cents: Capcom anticipated that there would have been connection issues for the first months and didn't want to risk penalising people with net problems together with quitters.
I made it to gold rank despite not earning points from rage quitters. From there on its nigh on impossible to progress especially as the points per win is reduced significantly. Losses against lower ranked players at gold level is a huge set back. This is what needs to be looked at. The matchmaking should only pair players at a similar level.
The game itself is a solid 9/10 for online play and majority of the people play online. Single player Arcade mode is more for the casual players and capcom made it clear before launch that there will be a story update in June. I don't get what the fuss is about.
@get2sammyb I totally get that. Its a great idea too. It's just ashame that the game came out with these flaws. I had high hopes for it. Sadly it didn't deliver for me personally. I just hope that future updates improve on that.
@Mizanur congrats man! I am currently super silver and I wish I could at least reach gold for the trophy (yes I care about petty things) but I won't EVER resort to quitting to reach my goal.
@Napples this makes little sense. It's a game I bought; I don't need an article on the internet to remind me of a failure which I potentially do or do not care about. I'll remember it because I spent my own hard earned money on it. To me, the single player content has never been the focus. So no, when I want to know about the actual relevant content to this article - AKA the rage quitting punishment system thingy that's gonna drop soon. I do not want to read about how the game needs more single player content for the 600 millionth time. (of course I am exaggerating here so take it with a grain of salt )
@Grawlog overprotective, when the lack of single player modes have been mentioned time and time again. Alrighty.
@Feena wait til you get to ultra silver..gets even harder to level up. Hit me up on psn if you want to play on battle lounge. My CFN ID is satsumiz
"You'd think that it would have been easier to, y'know, fast-track this update than review everything manually"
You know what if they dinged a single person who wasn't actually rage quitting I'm sure it'd just be a story for ages of capcom breaking the trust of the players, I'd support them on doing this manually and hopefully getting it right.
@Mizanur will do!
Well, whenever they throw the rage quitting update in hopefully they will add the others costumes to purchase as well. I want that Chun Li black dress outfit so bad.
