You see, Ubisoft, it's daft statements like this that come back to bite you when they turn out to be wrong. Last month, a representative of the company stated that console players would be able to improve the game's frame rate by tweaking the title's graphical settings in the option menu. "I don't know of another game that does that off the top of my head. So if you want to choose frame rate over visuals, you can if you want," the unnamed developer told YouTube channel Team Epiphany.
However, as swiftly pointed out by VideoGamer, no such options exist in the full release, so don't go expecting PC-esque graphical options when you boot the game up. Obviously, this all seems to stem from a simple mistake - the developer more than likely misspoke on the matter - but it doesn't change the fact that misinformation can give way to heightened expectations, and we all know how badly expectations can impact the reputation of a newly released game.
Were you expecting to find some deeper graphical options? Are you disappointed, or is all of this news to you? Shake your head in the comments section below.

How about a little colour, beige knee pads grey streets isn't exactly fun, I assume there is no day/night cycle and you don't get to see semi lit New York in moonlight either?
I can't stand Ubisoft. It hurts my soul that The Division looks so interesting; I really hate giving those Frenchmen money.
There is day night cycle.
Also, whyI should tweak the frame rate? It is running fairly smooth on ps4.
It seems nothing is forgiven anymore to Ubisoft, lately....
@Grawlog Agree with you, but as long we are not talking about a fighting / driving game and the framerate is constant around 30 fps, I can enjoy spectacular graphics (and in that, the division is astonishing) for a shooter.
The game engine is pretty great on this one.
While the game has some things going for it, I can't help but feel like it's trying to be Destiny. If your going to do a loot and shoot game then you need to give us interesting loot instead of another AK-47 that's in a million other games.
As for lying about improving framerate is very disappointing , in this day and age there is no reason why consoles games should give us PC like options. Games FF XIV, TLOU´ Infamous Second Son and Killzone Shadow Fall had certain things so it can be done.
@arnoldlayne83 I agree that 30FPS is perfectly fine, it's that people want the choice, if anything it's anticonsumer on developer's part that they don't.
@adf86 I loved destiny and then slowly got pissed about it. So I am pretty happy The Division came, in order to satisfy that hunger left after Destiny weared out.
I played the beta and yesterday i reached lv.6. I am finding The Division much more "rpg-esque" than destiny, which was really a shoot and loot after all. Have you taken some time looking at all the abilities, perks and talents you can unlock? Have you seen that all the guns and equipments have dps, 3 modifier for each categories (which modifies your attack, defense and support) and parzicular perks like increased critical damage and or other bonuses? That's for telling you that it seems, up to now, a much more deeper game. I found better guns (dps-wise) than one I had, but i refrained to use them because of the perks I have on the older ones. Same goes with unlocking abilitites... I am still thinking if I should grow as a lone-wolf or more a support character for when I will play online with friends.... In destiny it is just a dumb run towards higher level and higher (read endgame) weapons, up to that point you don't really care about what your loot is, just that it can increase your light level. So at the end, 90% of the guns in destiny are pretty useless....
It is true that here, due to realistic setting, you can't have the "apocalipse 3000 mega-rocket-nuke launcher".... but you should focus more on the character build and perks. For me it is more rpg than it seems..... And I just mention that gunplay is waaaaay more tactical than destiny "shoot shoot bum bum and stay alive"
Why does the bullsh*t always point to Ubisoft?
I thought the graphics in the Beta were pretty good to be honest. When's the PushSquare Division review coming out by the way?
@WanderingBullet Hopefully in the near future!
What the developer was talking about in the Youtube video was totally right, because they are talking about the PC version of The Division.
But in the Youtube heading they should made it clear it's the PC version they are playing & talking about, because The Division is also on XboxOne & PS4.
There are other games where you can change framerate but I have never bothered to do it. If I wanted to tweak games settings I would be playing on PC. Not a big thing but it gives an excuse for people who hate Ubisoft to hate them even more now.
@banacheck "It's actually great that we give the option to disable certain lighting aspects to improve framerates in the console versions, which I don't know of another game that does that off the top of my head. So if you want to choose framerate over visuals, you can if you want."
That's the quote from the developer.
Whoops. Ubi doing Ubi things. It probably was a mistake, and I don't care too much about framerate. But either way, Ubi looks boneheaded as usual.
Hey, at least it may not get the Unity framerate, right?
@ShogunRok Sorry, had trouble replying earlier. Didn't know I posted that many.
@Reverandjames To be fair, Ubisoft doesn't exactly do itself any favours these days - it's made more cock-ups than I care to count over the last few years.
@WanderingBullet Don't worry about it, seems to have been a slight glitch in the system. I've deleted your extras.
@ShogunRok Yeah, I've deleted quite a few myself. haha
@arnoldlayne83 I did see that but unfortunately for the mechanics and the seamless nature make the game look and feel an awful lot like Destiny (I'm not the only that's said it either) yes it does add some lite RPG elements but the modifiers seem a bit unispired because there's only so far they can go in a so called Tom Clancy title. So to make me want it day one with a game like these is either A) is the loot interesting and for it isn't because it's stuff you can get in a load of other games, which leaves B) Is the world fun to explore and while it's a gorgeous New York, it's still New York.
@ShogunRok true that ubisoft did wrong recently, but after Unity debacle it seems they are trying to recover the trust. Also with the division, they were ablebto solve the server problem in a couple of hours despiteassice amount of users.
First I've heard if this. Since it would be the first PS4 game with the option it sounds fishy anyway.
Didn't this exact mistake happen with watch underscore dogs?
Any graphic option to actually have colours in the game? It's so grey O_O
Frame rate is fine at 30fps.The graphics are great and the gameplay is superb.I don't need Tinkering options thank you👍👍
@ShogunRok
Apologies he does actually say that wether that's a mistake on his part because the console builds do have certain options, but seeing as the consoles are locked at 30fps you couldn't improve the frame rate anyway.
Just make a new Rayman game ya bums
(Preferably a 3D platformer follow up to 3)
you expected Ubisoft to tell the truth?
Anyone who preorders anything form Ubisoft deserves whats coming to them.
They are always striving to be the worst of all the "FFF" publishers.
