Console makers love to make it known when a game is exclusive to their system, but the 'Only on PlayStation' branding that Sony usually employs doesn't suit every single piece of software. Street Fighter V is an example of a release that will never deploy on the Xbox One, but it is coming to the PC, so it's technically available elsewhere.
Fortunately, the format holder appears to have solved this issue by adding a new logo to the brawler's box art: PS4 console exclusive game. It's not as subtle as the 'Only on PlayStation' symbol so naturally we're not big fans, but we can understand why the manufacturer wants to promote this information – and we can also appreciate its honesty.
What do you think of this logo, and do you think that it's something that Sony needed to do? Throw a fireball into the comments section below.

Hmm, not a fan of this, really. Seems unnecessary.
It's worth putting on the box I think, but the wording is a bit of a mouthful.
It was pretty much a given that Sony would eventually find some way to market this, considering the sheer number of games coming to both PS4 and PC, but not other platforms, we've been getting. The logo looks a little out of place, though, unless they plan to rebrand the "Only on PlayStation" one to look the same.
I personally would have preferred if they just put 'Only on PlayStation'. I understand why they haven't and fair play to them for being upfront, but the different logo drives my OCD mad.
They should just put a sticker on the outer plastic wrap. Looks like they have had to fade out the blue so it doesn't look to out of place.
Every Street Fighter fan knows by now that it's not coming to Xbox One and I'm pretty sure those that only have that console know about it too. That leaves us with those that don't have any of the consoles (or the people that don't read up on gaming news) to cater for. It's not a system seller as it once was (it is for me personally) but I guess they've put money into this game so they'll need to have store presence to make everyone else aware that yes, it is only on PS4.
@Draythedestroyer I'm pretty sure all PlayStation cases have a gradient across the top.
Personally, I really like it.
I've actually been trying to find exact picture with the new logo for a while.
Some of my Xbox One games say 'Only on Xbox One & PC' so I thought Sony would do something similar eventually. I think it's wise of them to say 'PS4 Console Exclusive Game' rather than 'Also on PC'.
@JimmyRowe1994 I actually didn't know Microsoft did that. Interesting.
@get2sammyb oh yeah it's funny I never noticed until they added that white text box.
@get2sammyb They have quite a few.
'Only on Xbox' for when it's also on Xbox 360.
'Only on Xbox One' for when it's only on Xbox One.
'Only on Xbox & PC' for when it's also on Xbox 360 and PC.
'Only on Xbox One & PC' for when it's also available on PC.
'Only on Xbox One and Windows' for when it's also available on PC but only via the Windows Store.
I also noticed that my copy of Halo 5: Guardians doesn't say 'Only on Xbox One', but rather 'Xbox One Exclusive'.
Your OCD would be going nuts haha.
The actual box art is brilliant. Ryu is on steroids!
@JimmyRowe1994
"It's not as subtle as the 'Only on PlayStation' symbol so naturally we're not big fans"
Like that's a surprise
If you look really close, underneath "Exclusive Game", it reads:
Nah nah na nah nah
Doesn't bother me, its not like the branding is on Ryu's gloves. XD
@get2sammyb maybe they could have abbreviated it to PS4 CEG* and then in the small print on the back write *console exclusive game. That way it doesn't look such a long logo and takes up less space.
I see nothing wrong with it, not understanding the hate towards it
Nitpicking OVER 9000!
Translation: Screw You Killer Instinct.
@WanderingBullet I wouldn't be so sure... his gloves do have some zany Eastern writing on them, are we suuuuuure it doesn't translate to "PS4 CONSERU EXCRUSIVE?"
@hYdeks it's Push Square... They hate every decision Sony makes.
I think its an important distinction to make, though I think they would/could only use this on games that absolutely cannot go on the other consoles (contractual agreements or licenses).
Some games are "Playstation and PC exclusive" not by the developers choice, but by outside factors. FFXIV, for example, is "Playstation and PC exclusive" simply because Microsoft will not allow cross play. If Sony put this logo on the game, and Microsoft decided to change their stance, it would be incorrect.
@JimmyRowe1994 while that is a bit insane, I think its important to know, considering the majority of Xbox exclusive games are on PC also, where as the majority of Playstation exclusive games are not. So if you had a PC and wanted to get either of those consoles, getting the Playstation would net you access to the biggest selection of games (PC+Playstation vs PC+Xbox)
Wonder if NMS will get the same box treatment? Wait, will NMS even have a physical release? They friggin better!
@get2sammyb How about...
NOT on Xbox One! Not on Wii U! Only on Playstation4!
@SonyInfinity I agree it should get a retail release but it will depend on Sony publishing it. What's interesting is that it's been labelled as a "console exclusive" so won't be on other consoles but does leave the way open for a retail release plus a PS VR version too.
@adf86 @SonyInfinity No Man's Sky will definitely get a boxed release. Bank on it.
@get2sammyb Man I hope so. I know a lot of people felt like we were getting to much news on the game at one point, but I rather liked it and now it seems to have gone very quiet. Still wanna know about psvr compatibility and release date. I'm assuming it will be a full priced game which is cool with me. If you guys get any news, even a tweet, please let us know asap, I'm desperate for it man!
Wonder how much Sony had to pay for SFV console exclusivity?
Well it's pretty sneaky since it still seems to imply it's an exclusive. It's like it's saying "This is an exclusive and (totally redundantly) it's for the PS4 console". Like, more knowledgeable gamers like Push Square posters will know what it means, but to the man in the street it's not making it clear at all that it's also on other platforms.
I personally really don't think it matters either way. The only time I see anyone bring up exclusivity is during a console war geek fight online. As I've said before, if the existence of pure exclusives made a console sell well, the current gen sales rankings would be totally reversed.
@SonyInfinity
They funded development of it like they did with Bloodborne, or at least co-developed it by contributing tech and resources. I mean, I'm not saying it was done out of the goodness of their hearts; it was done to get one over on MS. Still, Capcom have said that they wouldn't have gone ahead with development until Sony added in their funds and help with other things like tech. While you could argue that's just BS, it's not like anyone said that about RotTR on Xbone or the other various Xbox 360 exclusives like Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, etc. The only other times that spring to mind were Bloodborne and Bayonetta 2.
Also, MS seem to have a problem with letting Xbox Live games be crossplay. Quite a few games have been crossplay with PS3/4 and PC, but not with any Xbox. Capcom said they wanted to unify the community and let them all play together. The Xbone release would have been isolated on its own. Sony are happy to let PS4 games be crossplay. Just for example, Rocket League players on Xbone can't play with PC or PS4 players.
FFXIV also skipped Xbone for the same reason: http://www.rpgsite.net/news/2430-ff14-director-a-realm-reborn-skipping-xbox-is-still-down-to-microsoft
@ShogunRok Yeah, they could have gone for something like the old N64 exclusives - "Only on PS4". Although I guess that wouldn't be necessarily true, as there's the PC version.
Looks good!
