How do you better an already impressive slate of PlayStation 4 exclusives in 2016? You slather the next Gran Turismo on top. Announced during Sony's Paris Games Week presser, and named Gran Turismo Sport to be precise, the game promises to be the "most realistic driving simulator to date" β pushing visuals and physics to their limits.
Interestingly, the game will boast two FIA sanctioned championships, which will see you racing for both your nation and favourite manufacturer. Winners will collect their prizes alongside esteemed real-world drivers like Lewis Hamilton, blurring the lines between real and virtual racing once more. Speaking of which, it'll feature PlayStation VR support.
There's no official release date just yet, but beta testing will begin in Spring 2016, with a release date likely to follow later in the year. Sony must be rubbing their hands over the sales potential for this one.

The sales potential is only there when this is a full GT7 game and not an extended GT Academy.
@Kohaku Pretty sure this is Gran Turismo 7. I guess they gave up on the numbered names.
Is this just an online only game , or does it feature single player track racing, talk about the most confusing and lack of information announcement ever .. No idea what this game is, I've never touched any part of GT academy , I only play GT for single player track racing..
I trust no studio more than polyphony, to bring an amazing racing game.
Sweet! Need to purchase that racing seat and PS4 racing wheel I've been thinking about (-_-)
I got more info in the summer on gt planet! It is the same gt career you remember but with fia licences they want to expand into proper touring cars with GT and formula 1. So a they're adding licenced sport it makes sense to change the name to reflect that it's going to be a more comprehensive experience π
@NomNom Turn 10 maybe?
@themcnoisy err ok? What?

@themcnoisy oh forza. Opinions are meant to be different.
@NomNom Sumo Digital? Namco? Criterion? Codemasters?
Odd title, but if this is truly GT7, I can't wait. A big hole could be filled for PS4.
The line-up for next year just keeps getting better! I'm not even mad waiting to get my PS4 until next year because all of the best games for it are coming out then!
Imo, Forza Motorsport has definitely passed GT. For a long time, GT was king and second for me only to Burnout (I prefer more arcade racers) but since 4 it feels like it has slowly been slipping. With the PS4 though I'm hoping Polyphony can finally deliver like it did on GT 1-3. PS4 definitely needs a great exclusive racer. Forza Motorsport 6 will be very tough to top though. Turn 10 bounced back brilliantly from the disappointing and mediocre FM 5. No reason Polyphony can't do the same.
Polyphony always raises the industry standard for "realism" graphics. Their intros are a testament to that. Will buy so hard
@iv-tecman Yea... I hope they don't drop the single player bit... not calling it GT7 has me worry...
