Rainbow Six Siege PS4 PlayStation 4

When we controversially claimed over the weekend that no one gives a hoot about Rainbow Six: Siege, we weren't being mean about Ubisoft's latest shooter. We have a lot of analytics here at Push Square, and while we don't claim to have a view of the PlayStation 4 market as a whole, we can get a feel for which games are likely to sell – and which aren't. Needless to say, the abovementioned military-based escapade hasn't exactly been trending well.

It's no surprise to see the release get pushed, then – although the company appears to be framing this setback as a polishing exercise. Originally due out on 13th October, the title will now deploy on 1st December, which is quite a hefty delay. "This wasn't an easy decision, but based on the feedback that we've received, and based on our own internal tests, we felt that there are adjustments and improvements that we can make," a spokesperson said.

Of course, the secondary benefit is that the delay will get the game out of the way of Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and a certain dude on another console who's often clad in green. To be fair, a closed beta for the game is scheduled for 24th September, so now the developer will have ample opportunity to listen to the feedback, and actually incorporate changes based upon what people say.

And that shows that Ubisoft may have learned a thing or two from Assassin's Creed Unity's disastrous launch just 12 months ago. But are you disappointed by this delay, or do you reckon that it's for the best? Aim down the sights in the comments section below.
