A quick lesson in PR: if you can boast, then boast. It may not mean much that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has enjoyed the biggest beta in PlayStation 4 history, but Activision's told us anyway. Sure, counterpart Destiny's probably the only title that could possibly compete with it in this department, but who cares? A win is a win, after all.
According to the publisher, millions participated in the server stress test. "We've been looking forward to getting the game into the hands of the people that matter most – the fans," said a chuffed Treyarch boss Mark Lamia. "We can't thank them all enough for participating and providing us with invaluable feedback and data."
Of course, the most important thing is whether the beta was well received. There have definitely been some mixed responses, but on the whole, we'd say that the feedback has been pretty positive. Our series expert Joey Thurmond was pretty impressed with it overall, noting that the developer is "banking on its legacy and building upon it with a futuristic flair".

Wish I had my time back to be honest.
I rather see them drop the futuristic stuff and stop trying to be Titanfall. This is the second year in a row where a CoD game makes me wanna play Titanfall instead, whereas if they'd stick to the original gameplay I would've been all over it.
I actually gave it another shot on the One, because I want to like it so much and there are moments of pure bliss, but all of them are skirmishes where none of the new features and moves were used. But the moment you see the bad implemented wall runs, the slides and the double jumps, you just wish they'd make a remake of Blops or MW.
Ah I know it's been said over and over again but I'd still love one old MHO Frontline style COD. Just one mind you, WW2 doesn't need milking all over again
Not really that impressive considering there have been only a handfull of betas on the PS4 to date.
I didnt bother with it, but will likely get this once the price goes down, I enjoyed Black Ops 2.
But its a hard choice over Fallout, so itll come second to that and so on, at least for me.
@Boerewors you hit the nail on the head. 100% agree. Titanfall was tremendous in its ideas, implementation, and maps, but the serious lack of reason to keep playing past 30 or so hours was it's downfall. Cod doesn't need to follow in its footsteps.
@BigDaddyT0101 CoD is a strange one.
On the one hand, these ideas are freah to the series, and change the gameplay which some find negative.
On the other hand keeping the same tried and true formula is easy but some find negative.
CoD is the only game series Ive ever known to be wrong whatever direction it takes!
