Joining the ranks of Telltale's The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and more recent Tales from the Borderlands releases is Minecraft: Story Mode, an episodic game series that will create new lore for Minecraft. The title was properly revealed earlier today at this year's Minecon convention.
Instead of following the story of Minecraft hero Steve, Story Mode will have a separate narrative with its own characters. "You'll control protagonist Jesse throughout the season, as portrayed by actor Patton Oswalt," Telltale explained in a blog post. "Jesse and his group of friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone; four adventurers who slayed an Ender Dragon. The Order are the very best at what they do: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect. While at EnderCon, Jesse and his friends discover that something is wrong... something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and they must set out on a journey to find The Order of the Stone if they are to save their world from oblivion."
The developer also revealed some of the voice actors that will be featured in Season One. "This season will feature Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton,Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens. Look out for futher casting details to come!"
Although an official release date was not given to the press, miners can expect the first episode to roll out sometime this year. Of course, we'll have those details for you as they come. What do you make of this unusual collaboration? Gather your resources and then put them to use in the comments below.

I have an issue with telltale games, I've now bought twd 1and2, wolf amongst us and tftb.
Twd 1 and wolf amongst us I bought and played after the series was over and had a brilliant time.
Borderlands and twd2 I bought on the go and each release takes forever. You forget what's going on.
I have every Tell Tale Game so far, but Minecraft isn't my bag. So I'll probably wait till it is all out and find a used PS4 disc sometime next year.
@themcnoisy I strongly recommend that wait till each season is finished because you just don't how they will turn out, plus like you say, you can end up waiting a good while for each installment.
@adf86 your right, with borderlands the first episode was amazing, 2 and 3 have had good bits but they are just building the story up for 4 and 5 and they have felt a bit hollow in that regard.
Im curious about it though I was hoping it would be on the vita
That is an impressive cast.
I love the recent TellTale games ddon't get me wrong (I own all but GoT) but it really makes me sad people forget their pre-Walking Dead games. Yeah they were not as polished but they still exist and a lot of them are on PS3, my Borderlands biased aside I personally think Tales From Monkey Island is some of their best work its not perfect but very memorable compared to some of the stories in their recent games.
All I could hear was Ellie and Lee Everett.
"Hey there sweet pea. Could you hand me the cobblestone?"
Some kid showed me the trailer oh his phone last night and all I could think was "why?".
Mine craft is all about building, who is going to pay to watch a story in Minecraft, there are a billion free videos on YouTube. My kids are big fans of the Diamond Minecart, even I like Treyarouse ando Grimm just from the background noise.
Though I suppose w/ a billion sales of the game (I have no idea, just rounding) w/ just .1% that would still be a million, which I guess would be enough to make them a profit. How much can Corey Feldman get paid?
