Well, this is all a bit awkward, isn't it? Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, recently re-iterated that Rise of the Tomb Raider is a timed exclusive, so we should probably post this brand new trailer, right? You'll have to forgive us for all of the Microsoft branding which is plastered all over the, admittedly brief, clip, then.
There's no sign of any gameplay, so you'll have to make do with actress Camilla Luddington's well-spoken accent. In it, she talks of adventure, as protagonist Lara Croft is shown climbing an icy mountain. Naturally, we'll see more at E3 2015 later in the month. Don't expect a PlayStation 4 date just yet, though.

Forever changing sides.
Umm no, you shouldn't.
I also want to climb Mount Everest with thiny shorts. Me so jelly!
I know this is a timed exclusive and one of the games I am really looking forward to this year. I loved the reboot of 'Tomb Raider' and thought it really set up the franchise to become a more traditional style game (ie. more Tomb Raiding) but with more personality, emotion and character that this reboot brought to the franchise.
I really do hope that it will come to Playstation (even though I have and will get this on XB1) very soon as I really don't think a franchise that has been on multi-platforms and particularly one that has a 'sequel' as it appears to continue on from 'Tomb Raider' should be exclusive.
Oh... It even says "Holiday 2015 Exclusive" in the trailer.
Kind of annoying how they're not releasing gameplay and it's coming out this year
@Anchorsam_9 They are going to show gameplay at Microsoft E3 press conference.
@Anchorsam_9 I know, Uncharted isn't coming till next year yet Naughty Dog showed us 12 mins of gameplay last year. All we've had of Tomb Raider is 3 CGI trailers and some pictures in Game Informer yet it's meant to be coming this year?
Also I don't think Push Square should mention it till the day it's coming to PS4 in my opinion. If nothing else it's stops me from been tempted from saying something along the lines of "**** OFF M$"
@slampog That's cool, it just seems like less gameplay gets shown for games now
@adf86 Yeah, it's not like we want to see CGI, they shouldn't bother with these cinematic trailers tbh
Might get this next year(the better version i bet for the PS4) But will get it 2nd hand off eBay. Because the makers won't get my money for making me wait.
@Anchorsam_9 I hate CGI trailers, I'd much see gameplay footage filled with glitches because it at least shows how the will be played. But sadly we live in an age when even supposed "in game footage" turns out to not look as good once it's released, The Witcher 3 been the latest to do this.
Still haven't played through the first, I've started but got distracted by the Last of Us. I may go back eventually if I ever finish the Witcher. Obviously I have no idea how long it is an exclusive for but I hope it's long enough to keep it away from the launch of Uncharted 4 or it may not do so well
@adf86 Remember in the Uncharted 4 demo when Drake fell through the floor? That made me trust the developers more because I knew that they had enough faith to show their game off live
@Anchorsam_9 I actually laughed my head off because I bet the guy was saying beforehand "Don't mess up, well over a million people will be watching this" but your right it showed it was genuine. Same thing happened to No Man's Sky because people were picking it apart because of pop ins but a guy on Twitter said it best when he said "At least it shows it's real"
I look forward to buying it pre-owned on PS4 and PC.
As per the community rules, mentioning of pirating games is not allowed here -Tasuki-
"Holiday exclusive," lol. It'll be on PS4 before you can find the dump uncle Joe left in the toilet at the Christmas party.
:'-(
@NaughtyOttsel22 Pre-owned? Fair enough. Pirated? Not cool.
@get2sammyb Indeed, don't like being treated as an afterthought for a series I've supported since I was 4 though.
They made it clear I wasn't their target audience so they don't want my money, fair enough.
@NaughtyOttsel22 Yeah, it's a big shame how things have worked out; believe me, I'm also really disappointed. We don't talk about piracy on this site, though - never a good thing, that!
@get2sammyb I apologize, seeing your childhood and some of your fav devs pretty much do a massive dump on your childhood REALLY stings.
Now I'm just done supporting SellOutEnix (sorry not using their proper name) until it's out on PS4 AND PC, if it doesn't happen then pre-owned games for life.
@NaughtyOttsel22 It has nothing to do with target audience. Square is a business first and foremost it's about making money and obviously MS had the bigger checkbook this time. Sony use to do it all the time during the PS 2 era. GTA games always came out on PS2 a year or so before Xbox or PC.
@Tasuki That's fine, just don't expect my custom and everything is grand, I'll be buying it pre-owned and p.......you know.
Ah man I'm so excited for this
Can't unsee Grey's Anatomy's sex scenes.
To be honest, as much as I love the series, I will likely not buy this.
On the premise that i disagree with the practice.
I often wont buy or play something if I think the dev is taking the piss, and in this case I do.
I'm more weirded out by how forward Spencer is. Yeah, "timed" is vague-ish, but it's more forward than how most companies make statements.
It gives me this impression he knows it's a cruddy move.
I can't wait to hear Square Enix cry like babies again like they did when TR didn't reach expectations. Now this definitely won't reach expectations, games not named Halo and Forza and Madden sell horrible on Xbox. They know their biggest fan base has always been on PlayStation. I'll buy this crap used when the definitive edition hits PS4. It won't hold a candle to the Naughty Dog game coming out next year though.
