When it rains, it pours Energon cubes – and Activision's let the exciting looking Transformers: Devastation slip through its robotic grip. The game – which leaked earlier today – has now been all but confirmed for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 courtesy of a Best-Buy leak. And yes, Platinum Games is at the helm. We always knew you had potential, lad.
The game's apparently due out on 6th October, and will see you taking control of the Autobots, as you lay the smackdown on Megatron and foes. Playable characters will include Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock, while the likes of Peter Cullen and, excitingly, Frank Welker will reprise their roles.
It sounds like the title will adopt the Bayonetta developer's brand of fast-paced action, as you'll need to learn the art of slam downs, counterattacks, and infinite combos to master the mechanics. There is mention of vehicle transformations in the flavour text, too, though it's not entirely clear whether there'll be a driving element, or if this will factor into the combat.
Either way, this is probably the Transformers game that many of you have been dreaming of – this author included. The jury is still out on the overall quality of the package, however; Platinum Games didn't exactly bring its A-game with its previous Activision collaboration, The Legend of Korra. Has your internal imperial magistrate reached a verdict on this title yet? Vote guilty or innocent in the comments section below.

@ryanorly Agreed, they've absolutely nailed it. I'm just worried that it may not have the budget it deserves... Fingers crossed.
...Couldn't they've picked another developer? I don't like Platinum wasting time on stuff like this.
Hmm, I love Platinum as a developer, but with Activision publishing, I'm not all that interested.
@AyeHaley What?! This sounds right up their wheelhouse, no?
Sweet, this could be great, but as you said, it could turn out like The Legend of Korra as well... Also, the lack of playable Decepticons is rediculous. It's a standard for Transformers games, and Platinum Games has no exuse for not meeting that standard.
@Sinalefa - No multiplat for you, just multigen. (No coverage yet on NL though I feel like we started this conversation over there, its like a TV crossover.)
@rjejr
Thanks for the mention because I would have seen this until Monday.
And if this is their game I am not interested although I could still get the PS3 version as long as it is on disc.
Man not even having Platinum Robo as a cameo would excite me.
Platinum is a great developer but Activision is a bad publisher. They will want things done quickly. Platinum proved what they can do if they have time to make a game when Nintendo gave them time to work on Bayonetta 2. I worry that Activision will rush this out the door like they did with Rise of the Allspark. I'm glad I can get it on my PS3 but would rather have had it on PC or Wii U.
@rjejr It's listed for PS4, PS3, Xbone, and 360 on Best-Buy — doubt they'll be covering it on Nintendo Life...
@get2sammyb I'm holding out till the official announcement for the platforms it will be on but yeah, it is looking like it won't be on Wii U, which is stupid. If a game can go on PS3 and X360, there is really no reason it can't go on Wii U. I won't become a whiny so and so like many people were over Bayonetta 2 about it.
@get2sammyb - I think following up a story post that had 84 comments would legitimately fall under the category of "follow up story".

Though I'll give TW the benefit of the doubt that he thinks PG may yet reveal something else at E3 and this isn't that game.
Though honestly, lots of stories on NL are about games Wii U isn't getting. It's just a fact of gaming life on Nintnedo hardware.
Sounds interesting but I will hold off. I loved the demo of Bayonetta 2 (still need to play the full game) so I know they can do something great.
Amount of Transformers 1986 animated movie references... Can't take much more!
And yeah, as the article states, we need to hope that Platinum brings its best to the project. The studio's made some brilliant games, but I do feel like it can be a bit hit or miss. For example, I like Vanquish and Metal Gear Rising, but I wouldn't say either of them are anywhere near perfect because they're sullied just so by slightly daft design choices.
Still, if it can get this one right, I'll probably never talk ill of Platinum again.
RUMBLE, LASERBEAK, RAVAGE, PREPARE FOR BATTLE;
OPERATION - WARFARE;
EJECT; EJECT; EJEEEEECT!
I'm interested, but if it's a digital exclusive like Korra, I'll probably pass on it for now.
Looks cool and could be brilliant but I just have a feeling Platinum won't put in their A game just like with Legend of Korra, I'm hoping this isn't the unannounced game to be honest.
