PS4 Firmware Update 2.50 PlayStation 4 Trophies

This author's never owned a scrapbook. Well, that's a lie actually – your humble host's probably purchased several over the years, but has never had the patience to fill them with photos. Why is any of this relevant? Well, because that's what one of the new features in PlayStation 4 firmware update v2.50 reminds us of, as the system automatically stores snaps of each of your herculean accomplishments.

Let's take two or three steps back for a second: Sony's obviously noticed that people tend to take screenshots the moment that they earn a Trophy in order to share the success with their friends on social media. Now you no longer need to be nimble with the share button, however, as the console will take a snap automatically and save it to your hard drive.

This is obviously pretty nifty in its own right, but the real cool thing is that the screenshots – as long as you don't delete them – will be displayed alongside your Trophies. We reckon that this is a really nice idea, as it will essentially allow you to look back upon your progress through a game, and instantly remember when you unlocked each trinket.

Alright, perhaps we're being a little bit romantic, but we still think that there's something here. The big problem is that we can't figure out how to turn the functionality off, and that seems like an oversight – after all, not everyone will want to look back wistfully over every Bronze Trophy that they've unlocked. Lovely idea, mixed execution, then – isn't that Sony all over?
