If, like us, you thought that the combat in Final Fantasy XV's demo wasn't that great, then you'll be happy to know that it'll almost definitely improve before the game finally comes out.
The news comes via director Hajime Tabata, who's been talking with Japanese publication Famitsu. Speaking specifically about combat, Tabata states that "the battle system from the demo is about 50 percent complete", giving us some idea as to how expansive the finished system will be.
"The full retail version will have things like magic and co-op chains, which I feel will really freshen up how players approach combat," he adds, making us rather excited for what's to come.
Indeed, Episode Duscae's combat is a little bit barebones, but that's to be expected, since you're unable to unlock any new abilities or skills in the playable teaser. What we're really hoping for, however, is a better lock on mechanic, because the one that features in the demo is an absolute pain in the arse, to put it bluntly.
What do you think of Episode Duscae's combat? Is there anything that you want to see tweaked or added? Save us from certain death in the comments below, and then give us a high five.

I definitely agree about the lock on. That's really my only complaint about the game. That and the lack of explanation of parrying. It took me forever to get it in the tutorial.
@ss4gogeta069 I'm right there with you. I played through it yesterday and parrying took forever to figure out. And yea the combat got on my nerves a few times. When you had to fight those skeleton dogs annoyed me. Anything fast was impossible to keep up with. But overall I loved the demo
Yep. The dogs run past you and you're looking into the woods while they're standing behind you. But I can't wait for the real thing!!!
The lock on would be fine if it actually locked on. I'm certain mine was staying locked to whoever I'd targeted for the first hour or two, but after that it didn't matter who I'd locked on to, it would shift targets anyway! Once you've locked on, it should definitely only switch targets on death, or when you flick the right stick.
"Demo combat is only 50 per cent complete"
So only another 10 years before the game releases?
agree very much on the lock-on... Like the freedom in battle.. Looking forward for the game. let's hope it's not another 5 years...
