Many have already came to the conclusion that they probably won't be getting their hands on the finished version of Final Fantasy XV this year, but for those who still think it's possible, we'd advise you not to get your hopes up.
During today's livestream of the game's demo, director Hajime Tabata stated that the title's about "60 per cent" complete. To put that into context, he told Kotaku that the game was 55 per cent complete back in September, although to be fair, the upcoming demo does seem like it's taken a decent amount of effort.
Still, it's looking extremely unlikely that Final Fantasy XV will finally get out of the gate in 2015, but how long does a game take to develop? How long's a piece of string? Place your bets in the comments section below.

Well i bought my ps3 for versus, i guess i can wait another 1 or 2 years... Lets hope this game doesnt get moved to the ps5!!
Would be unwise not to launch this before Xmas, but seems likely, and then we're looking at spring 2016 onwards. Plenty of time before I get my hands on a PS4.
Still a chance though.
May of next year for sure and i'll wait for that long too.
I was never expecting it this year, although if it's out for xmas that would be a nice little bonus
LOL why am I not surprised. FF15 in 2016, KH3 in 2016/17
@BLPs Just worked that out myself so I could post a comment about it, before scrolling down and seeing you'd beaten me to it!
Dread to think what completion percentage Kingdom Hearts III is
@Perryg92 I'll be amazed if that comes out this decade...
As long as it turns out great, I'm all for the wait. The production time is ridiculous, the owners of square enix must be the most understanding bosses of all time. In the time this has taken they could of made 4 final fantasy 9s. Looking forward to it though.
"One in a million?"
"No, more like one in a billion".
"So you're telling me there's a chance!"
I can wait, but it does kind of boggle my mind that people spend so many years of their lives creating 1 videogame. I'm not a big fan of yearly releases, but 2 - 3 years should cover it. They're getting into Boston's Big Dig territory w/ this one.

Heck, Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel in 4 years.
Saw it coming. I can wait though. At least it's not The Last Guardian.
Oh wow. I really was. Dang. Well, I'd rather it be great and complete than rushed. I really want it to come out by spring though!
I'm still expecting a 2016 or 2017 release date myself...if it's later than that i'll be upset.
It really depends on what the last 40% is.. If it's voice work, polishing and making locations maybe it won't be so bad and launch in 2015.. If not maybe early 2016.
I can wait I know many might reject but I want them to achieve 'perfection' rather than pushing it out rapidly now. Avoiding spoilers of the demo though.
