Seeing as Hideo Kojima's big Christmas announcement turned out to be a chicken cap rather than a release date, we're still none the wiser regarding Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's hotly anticipated PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 deploy date. Fortunately, developer Kojima Productions has hinted as part of its weekly webcast that an announcement is edging closer.
"I know that you've all been eagerly awaiting word on release timing," a company spokesperson explained. "I think that we should be able to announce that soon, so look forward to that. It's only a little longer." Gematsu notes that the title will be in attendance at the Taipei Game Show later this month, where apparently fresh information will be revealed.
While we refuse to give in to Kojima's teasing, however, the title must be getting close to completion, as it's apparently at the phase immediately prior to bug checking right now. The studio is supposedly adjusting some newly introduced elements at the moment, so let's hope that it polishes that off soon – we've already been waiting way too long.

But I want it nowwwwwwwww!!
Snake always has to creep up on you. It's his way.
The day the release date is announced, I'll be recreating Johnny Sasaki's greatest 'hits'...
Articles like this make me really impatient. I really want this game so bad, a concrete date isn't too much, is it?
2018.
@ShogunRok
At least it will be out before TLG, Kingdom of Hearts III and i want to say Final Fantasy XV?
Sigh, Greatness awaits is such a fitting comment but i suppose the "now we play the waiting game" is a less used one.
@Punished_Boss_84 Correct on all accounts!
We all know this is a late 2015 release, right?
Id say 2016, this year is crammed full of great AAA titles and indies lol though I will gladly wait for this game!!
Only just started ground zeros so hopefully not to soon if ya get mr
@mikey85 I don't think you're in any danger. The story portion of GZ is only about an hour or so if you take your time with it. It can be done silly fast if you know exactly how to approach it (about 5 minutes if I recall correctly). Fairly sure you'll be ready to move on in the story before Phantom Pain releases!
Edging closer as in "surprise! It's next week" or Q4?
I think this is a good idea, to have no release date, until they are certain its ready.
Especially in contrast to other releases thus far, being pushed back, buggy etc.
@SteveButler2210 sweet. Iv heard about being able to complete gz rather quickly.how do you go about it
@mikey85 not actually given it a go personally, but if you google "Ground Zeroes speed run guide" there are loads of videos & other info out there about it. I would suggest playing it without any guides etc first time round though, you'll get the most out of the game when you're messing around with things at your own pace and experimenting. It's still incredibly short even without going for a speed run!
EDIT: don't know why this triple posted originally haha!
@SteveButler2210 ok bud thanks. Iv completed the first two missions. Im just glued to dragon age n driveclub lol
