Kept you waiting, huh?

Seeing as Hideo Kojima's big Christmas announcement turned out to be a chicken cap rather than a release date, we're still none the wiser regarding Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's hotly anticipated PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 deploy date. Fortunately, developer Kojima Productions has hinted as part of its weekly webcast that an announcement is edging closer.

"I know that you've all been eagerly awaiting word on release timing," a company spokesperson explained. "I think that we should be able to announce that soon, so look forward to that. It's only a little longer." Gematsu notes that the title will be in attendance at the Taipei Game Show later this month, where apparently fresh information will be revealed.

While we refuse to give in to Kojima's teasing, however, the title must be getting close to completion, as it's apparently at the phase immediately prior to bug checking right now. The studio is supposedly adjusting some newly introduced elements at the moment, so let's hope that it polishes that off soon – we've already been waiting way too long.
