Reporting on rumours surrounding Hideo Kojima's games is risky business. On the one hand, the talented provocateur is infamous for his sneaky teases, but on the other, the leaks are usually completely outlandish. For example, you may recall that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was originally announced as the project of a fictional Swedish studio.
The latest of these bizarre tricks comes in the form of the t-shirt that Kojima was wearing at the recent Game Awards. It read "tjugoandra den sjätte", which a few fans quickly recognised as Swedish. The direct translation is "22nd and the 6th", which some have suggested is a subtle hint that Snake's latest outing will be launching on the 22nd June next year.
Obviously, this ought to be taken with a pinch of salt, but the exact size of that pinch should be directly proportional to how much you trust Hideo Kojima. What's more, the referenced date is a Monday, which is not traditionally a day on which big multiplatform games are released.
What do you make of this rumour? Do you think that there's something here, or is it just more of Kojima's silly shenanigans? Consume a ration in the comments section below.

Wow, I love this! I doubt it's a release date, but there must be some significance to the date - after all, I feel like everything Kojima does is very deliberate, even if there is a bit of trolling involved.
I just did a bit of research, and apparently some other people have suggested that the message might be even more cryptic. The original fake studio for The Phantom Pain was Moby Dick Studios. Moby Dick is the 6th book by Herman Melville, and the 22nd chapter is called "Merry Christmas".
So, either Kojima's wishing us a merry Christmas OR it's a reference to the Kojima Station broadcast scheduled for Christmas day. I'm more convinced of the release date theory, to be honest.
Either way, the man is a genius.
@k_andersen

Does this mean we have to work on Christmas day?
@get2sammyb I like Kojima, but not THAT much.
Troll extraordinaire. Only the people at SquareEnix are better.
June 22nd is only a few days after e3 2015!
@get2sammyb If thats the official "mind blown" gif then yeah I agree. As crazy as it is though I think Merry Christmas makes more sense in light of MobyDick Studioes. I think I might even start wearing "the 22nd of 6th" t-shirt.
PS - Dont work on Chirstmas.
The Phantom Pain is my white whale...
I MUST catch it!
@k_andersen That's some crazy details there. I hope it's a release date, but I won't hold my breath.
Unless Kojima is so aware that someone would look into it, and did it to throw us off.
Kojima is good at trolling
Haha! Obviously christmas wouldn't put it in the best position for holiday 2015, but it would give them the time they need.
I love the moby dick reference if true. That's brilliant.
I want it yesterday.
Weird. I can see June happening, but December wouldn't surprise me either. Can't wait to see how Big Boss meets Sniper Wolf and every other loose end in the storyline! Not to mention MGO! Woot
