Being a PlayStation fan is a bit like supporting the England football team these days: when the chips are up, you just know that they’re going to come crashing down at some point. As such, it’s no surprise that just when we were starting to feel satisfied with PlayStation 4 firmware update v2.00, the PlayStation Network has crumbled.
Reports are inconsistent around the web, but there definitely appears to be something up. It’s hardly surprisingly to see the manufacturer’s servers struggle given the amount of people likely to be pulling the update down at peak time, but obviously the frequency of these offline instances isn’t good. We’ll keep you updated of any further developments as they occur.
Update: Sony said that it was investigating the latest PSN outage issue, and it doesn’t appear to have taken long to solve. We’re now able to connect from our office in the UK, and are seeing reports that all is well again elsewhere in the world. We’ll keep you abreast of any further developments.

Yep, I got kicked and now I'm unable to sign in on any PlayStation console.

Had DC issues for an hour or two and now i'm out completley. People are already p****d at PSN this kind of crap is going to seriously affect what console's people will be buying over christmass, Sony really aint doing themselves any favours here it's pathetic even the most sympathetic people are getting fed up with this crap now, myself included.

I hope the real reason for the problem is that everyone is trying to download Freedom Wars.
Thankfully I was able to buy it and start the download before the network started crashing.My download has stopped a few times but it's almost finished now.

Been with PS all my life, since the first console. After the awful issue with TLOU on my PS3 & now this. Wouldn't be too bad if we didn't have to pay for it but this is out of hand. Keep this going much longer & I will jump ship & say nothing but bad about PS whenever it's brought up. Enough is enough.

The Paper one is a bit too busy looking for my taste and has harsh sound effects.
The rectangle one has a great Resogun look to it.I don't much care for the sound effects of this one either, but I'll get used to it because I really like the look.
Honestly I don't know why these articles are put up anymore. all they do is create a bunch of comments whining and complaining about it.
@Tasuki I think they're great. When bad stuff happens, people need a place to let out their thoughts and this is a great place to do that.

Downloaded update, kicked from PSN. As people have been saying, the difference now with all these network outages on PS4 network is that the majority of PS4 owners are ps+ subscriber's. I'd never "jump ship" but it's really starting to get on my t!ts now. Wait ages for a half decent firmware update ( and that's being generous) and it brings the whole lot down.
I had a few minutes so I was going to play some NBA...downloaded the update and now NBA won't let me play because, for whatever reason, MyCareer demands I be online. Can't connect to the PSN store, look at trophies, anything...
The 2.0 update downloaded and installed just fine. Grrr.
@Tasuki Possibly because people want to know if it's a network wide problem or specific to them only, and as for the whining, too bloody right.
I can log in on PS3 but not on PS4. Seems to me like it's just 2.0 rather than the whole network.
These things need to stop. Sonys console is the better one out there, but their inability to do anything network wise is getting tiresome. As of right now, netflix will not work, any games downloaded are not working because my console is not set to be my primary.

@Tasuki Thats kinda the point. Site traffic is how they pay the bills so articles that get the most comments are a good thing for Push Square. It just so happens that PSN is offline all the time :/

I got the update early this morning and could have spent the day gaming as I'm lucky enough to work in education and get half terms and school holidays off....but I didn't. I waited to play tonight and now I can't lol....I'll catch up on the TV I guess and keep checking to see if the issue is resolved.

@T7L3R After I had to replace my second gen PS3 I got the third gen. Every game worked fine but after 2-3 months TLOU would stop reading. I played the hell out of it on multiplayer but never damaged the disc, even got a new one at one point. I've been through 4 PS3'sin well under a year. Common problem, very common. I wouldn't of blamed Sony so much if it wasn't their flagship game under a studio they own. Hurt more seeing how much I love it.

@get2sammyb im online on my primary console but cant get on my 2nd ps4 console upstairs even tho im online cant seem to access the store aswell as other features hope sony starts to listen ps4 is an amazing piece of kit but there network cant handle all this i dont think they expected the console to sell so much so quick looks like they have bitten off more than they can chew i hope i never have to move to xbone
@joseth418 oh wow! So it wasn't just me then! I bought the new slim PS3 last year bundled with TLOU and after a couple of weeks it stopped reading discs. I wound up trading it in to gamestop along with the game and getting a ps4.

It baffles me when I go on other sites and I see Sony fans trying to defend psn. I'm sorry but it's just ridiculous. If psn had of stayed free this generation, then okay fine its reasonable that psn would not be top quality when comparing to the competition.. but Sony were the ones who said they are doing this to improve pan and it has been just plain bad. When you pay for a service, it should never have these sorts of problems, and if it does, there should be reimbursement. I was really looking forward to playing some share play with my friend who doesn't have all the games I have and now we're stuck not even being able to connect. As if we didnt have to wait long enough for the 2.0 update. What a joke.

I just got squid grips for both my dualshock 4 and my Xbox one controllers and I gotta recommend these to everyone ! So comfy and no controller slip at all. It's really good.

I don't see any 'whining' and as far as the complaining, it's a paid-for service and there has been an issue damn near every week for the last two months, maybe more. Couple that with other bs going on lately and people are well within their rights to express their displeasure if they want to. Sony is not this perfect, saintly company that many here seem to want others to believe. I've been a huge supporter of the PlayStation brand, I still consider it my favorite but bs is bs.

@Munkyknuts haha I got an email from lootcrate last month with a coupon for them so I figured why not! (Ps lootcrate is awesome also) and they came yesterday. Pretty much it's just a set of pads that go on both sides of your controller. It's so comfortable and keeps the controller from getting slippery if your hands sweat etc

@mitcHELLspawn Yeah I just looked them up on Amazon, they look comfy. I think I'll have to get some soon...I don't have moisture issues but extra comfort during long play times would be good....maybe for my PS3 as well as I'm contemplating diving back into Skyrim.

I'm in and the store and everything is functioning properly. Just downloaded three of the themes (spiral, rectangle, and the paper one) and they are all pretty cool but the music is either love it or hate it I think. I have the YouTube app downloading as we speak.

Destiny finally worked for about 10 minutes then i just got disconnected AGAIN like a minute ago because the servers are still messed, plus i can't get in PS Store and the one time i did got on, i can't download the Youtube app, plus get booted out of of the store after a minute or 2.
@T7L3R Nooo, it wasn't you. I will always be bitter about that. PSN is up for me now since an hour ago, been playing TLOU on PS4 no issue.

Sony realized people were willing to pay for online. Do you want to game with friends? If the answer is yes, well, that's why you're paying for PSN. I don't game online enough to warrant the trouble anymore so I'm tempted to let my Plus subscription run out. Not like they're delivering great free games on a consistent basis anymore anyway and I'm not sure waiting for DriveClub PS+ is worth it.

I cannot sign in my psn account on my ps4 since the update yesterday. I was getting used to have psn problems once every week, but this is getting annoying

@Tasuki I dont think people whining I just think people have certain expectations when they spend $400+ dollars on a console especially a Sony PlayStation console.
The PS4 was a total rush job I really wish it were illegal to put faulty incomplete tech on the market.
