The recent news that DriveClub was to stick to 30 frames-per-second may have put a bit of a dampener on the gasoline-soaked party for some, but it's hard not to think that the decision has certainly benefited the game's visuals — especially after witnessing this newest chunk of pure gameplay.
Starting from the first person perspective, the footage whisks you through a tour of a Canadian forest, while the environment is illuminated ever so nicely by the title's dynamic lighting system. All in all, it looks absolutely stunning, especially if you head over to the official PlayStation website and watch the whole thing in 1080p. Has this new trailer got you eager to jump into the driver's seat? Do a lap in the comments section below.

Game looks like one of those CG cut scenes you'll usually see at E3 for a racing game. #Gorgeous
*drool
I have literally no interest in racing games, but I want to play this just to look at it. It's a good job it's free!
That does look lovely. Despite all the controversy I'm still looking forward to finally getting it on my screen.
I hope this ends up as good as it looks!
@k_andersen I feel the same way. Any racing game that isn't Split Second or Mario Kart is just not my cup of tea, but damn it looks good.
Looks nice, the 30fps (instead of 60) don't bother me one bit. So we now know it looks good, sounds good, but if it plays good remains to be seen (it doesn't look TOO arcadish though, which is good in my book).
Wooooooo. Nice
It looks stunning!
Looks gorgeous, it will be interesting to see how this does with the free version in the mix.
My first GT3 race made me think I was watching real cars, but this is from another planet. Actively dynamic weather/lighting is the new day/night cycle lol
@Scollurio I'm scared it does look too arcadey after GT6. Not to only compare to GT, but 6 spins you out a lot as punishment for high-speed mistakes. Maybe the video's driver made no errors, but it seemed ...easy?
I can't wait, the best looking visual racer i have seen so far. definitely want this game in my hands already! o.o Game looks fun, really like the club idea.
I also can't wait to see GT7, and Project CARS, also going to buy these.
@charlesnarles maybe they had loads of assists turned on. some racing games can go from very easy to damn near impossible with assists. Dirt 3 without assists was perfect though, definitely my favourite racing game.
@charlesnarles I don't expect it to compare to GT6 AT ALL. I expect it to be somewhere around "Forza Horizon" or "Blur" (without the shooting). Which can also be fun as long as the cars feel distinct from one and another. But to be honest, if PD announced they'd add the ability to fill your online lobby with AI drivers I'd be more excited. You happen to race GT6 still?
@Scollurio I've seen Forza 5 (I think; the one with Brit narration) and thought it was too much like the actual arcade Cruisin' USA (if that exists in other regions lol). I just don't want it to be more like CTR than a sim, ya know? Yeah I like GT6, I use the Audi S4 from GT3 for every race I can even tho the old models still have silhouette interiors... I'm in the middle of nat'l a, you? (I beat all Sammy's records for the nat'l a license test lawlz)
Pardon my ignorance, can someone tell me the differencce between a sim and an arcade racing game? Unless you just mean a game within an arcade. I have played a lot of games mentioned in here but Im a little confused.
This is outrageous. There have been telltale signs for a while now, but I'm glad Evolution Studios has finally managed to get out a video that demonstrates just how good this is going to look.
@Holydiver85 just realism, as in difficulty. like for flying games a big difference is pushing left/right just turns the plane in arcade and in a simulator it rolls you (yaw only) then you pull up to manually bank the direction you want. In racing sims it's harder to judge appropriate speed etc for turns, you get DQ'd for touching other cars, the cars' tires wear out if you skid a lot, you have limited gas for example. Sims=realistic; arcade=fun
Well this looks good.
This is Sony's "Sup Forza heard you was talking sh*t"
She's so pretty. I'm going to show her off to everybody.
It looks stunning and the environments are amazing. Can't wait.
What pleased me most was the sense of speed and racing with the other cars. Their other videos didn't seem to capture the adrenalin, at least for me. So that's really encouraging.
The hands were the only thing that let it down. They don't look real and break the illusion. Some minor aliasing in places.
I'm being picky though. Looks like they have done a brilliant job. Just hope the "game" side of things holds up. This is really promising.
Wow. This is gorgeous. It's not the type of racer that I'm usually into, but with visuals that slick I'd definitely take it for a spin.
The graphics are great, but 30 fps is a deal breaker.
@Gamer83 Agreed.
Its free though so can't really complain. Just a bit of a let down.
@eLarkos
I haven't really been too hyped for this game so I won't even play the Plus version of it. Free is good though and points to Sony for doing something like that for a high profile release.
hey guys, i haven't been impressed so far by what I've seen on youtube, but check out the uncompressed, actual 1080p videos on the official site!
every trailer looks absolutely jaw dropping, way better quality than what's on youtube.
enjoy!

What are they gonna do with Gran Turismo?
Add VR to it and I will puke. Good times
@omnyoto it cant handle 60fps. It most certainly cant handle VR well. Unless that's why you said you would puke
@eLarkos why how much processing power does the ps4 need for project morpheous?
@ReigningSemtex
Well more is always better, but ultimately there's always going to be a limit. Especially for low-price entry mass-market devices like consoles.
Developer can never assume to have an infinite amount of graphical processing power and RAM resources at their disposition so ultimately they're always going to need to make design decisions.
For example: Should the game have extremely good-looking ultra-realistic graphics and shoot for 30 fps or are we going to prioritize 60 fps and keep the graphics a little less complex but still shoot for good image quality? Or should we envision a more open-world or semi-open-world level design and scale back the graphics or framerate etc?
It's the same thing with VR. The PS4 has enough power for VR, but has it enough power to power games like DriveClub with the same graphical intensivity at a very high framerate (which is important for VR, think about 100+ FPS) and with very good AA? Highly unlikely. Hell, I doubt a GTX Titan could even run the game like that.
But games like The Witness etc could probably work very well with VR. It's up to the developers to be creative with the resources and go for an artstyle that works well with VR and graphics that leave enough room to spare for a high framerate (60 FPS - 120 FPS)
@Cyrso Great response.
