Futuridium EP Deluxe

Studio Liverpool may have been cruelly closed down a while back, but its legacy is set to live on in Italian indie MixedBag’s upcoming PlayStation Vita shoot-‘em-up Futuridium EP Deluxe. A former smartphone favourite, this enhanced handheld release will see you blasting blocks in colourful environments reminiscent of those in WipEout HD’s classic Zones mode.

“You are a lone starship pilot who gets lost in a dimensional loop just before a big space battle,” co-founder Mauro Fanelli explained on the PlayStation Blog. “With a limited and constantly depleting energy bar, your only hope is to fly as fast as possible over enormous space dreadnoughts and destroy power cubes to replenish your energy tank and reveal the dreadnought’s power core, which must be destroyed to move on to the next ship.”

You’ll have very limited control over your speed in the score-based affair, so you’ll need to be both nimble and aware of your ability to turn on the spot at any time. “You can play it safe,” the developer continued, “but only taking big risks and learning the right path on the dreadnoughts will lead you to the top of the online leaderboards.”

While this is still very much based upon the game already available on other platforms, the studio is adding a lot to this re-release to help ensure that its ‘Deluxe’ moniker is apt. In addition to fresh stages and modes, the title will also boast new enemies, music, and a visual overhaul.
