Killzone: Shadow Fall

A quick glance at the PlayStation Store reveals a treasure trove of free-to-play PlayStation 4 treats. DC Universe Online, Warframe, and the similarly named War Thunder are all eager for you to chomp on their microtransaction buffets, while Escape Plan, Flower, and Sound Shapes are all subscribers to Sony’s cross-buy initiative.

That’s a veritable feast of complimentary gaming goodness alone, and the platform holder hopes to expand upon the spread during the festive weeks. In a Twitch.TV broadcast, Guerrilla Games has reconfirmed that Killzone: Shadow Fall’s multiplayer mode will be available for free between 28th and 29th December.

This seems like a move designed to capitalise on the Christmas holidays, and it will allow you to dig into the entire online suite without whipping out your moth-infested wallet. We suspect that the studio’s hoping that your first taste will prove moreish enough to encourage you to purchase the full game. Plus, it gives the existing playerbase some fresh meat to slay.

The company’s also confirmed that it’s working hard on the competitive component behind-the-scenes. Voice chat will be added in imminently, as will clan support over time.
