Tomb Raider's Journey Concludes, Reboot Goes Gold

You'll be able to protect vulnerable heroine Lara Croft for yourself in just a few short weeks, as developer Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that its upcoming Tomb Raider reboot has finally gone gold. The title will sail, crash, and wash up on store shelves on 5th March in North America and Europe. You can’t beat a nice simultaneous launch.

“It’s been a long journey, and it feels like we’ve been on this one together. Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support since we first revealed our new vision for Tomb Raider to the world,” studio gaffer Darrell Gallagher beamed on the game’s official Facebook page.

“Back in 2010 when we announced Tomb Raider we promised to break new ground for the franchise – to create an origins story that forges Lara Croft into a hero, and takes her on a journey like no other. I’m very happy that I can stand by those words today.”

To date, the title has secured 50 magazine covers, 150 award nominations, nearly 800 fan art submissions, almost 2,000 blog posts, and over 50,000 forum comments. Gallagher forgot the most important statistic, though: around 200,000 bad cosplays. Still, we’re quietly optimistic about the game. Is it on your radar? Let us know in the comments section below.
