Happy daze

If there’s one character that’s been a consistent source of conversation during the build-up to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale’s release, it’s Gravity Rush’s loveable heroine Kat. Despite being rumoured on a number of occasions, the protagonist is not part of the upcoming mascot mash-up’s initial roster – but lead game designer Seth Killian has just confirmed that she will be available as DLC alongside Starhawk’s lead character Emmett Graves.

“Have you ever wondered what dev teams do after a game goes gold?” the former Capcom man teased on the PlayStation Blog. “If all is going well, often times they get down to business with DLC. And in fact that’s exactly what we have begun.”

As with the rest of the game’s roster, the two new challengers will be designed with their source material in mind. That means Emmett Graves will utilise Starhawk’s unique ‘Build and Battle’ system, while Kat will “turn gravity on its head with some mind-bending new ways to move as she positions herself for her unique brand of aerial assault”.

Better yet, both characters will be available as free DLC for a period of two weeks. It’s unclear how much they’ll cost following that promotional phase.

The fighters are still very early in production, so developer SuperBot Entertainment’s not willing to say much more at this stage. It has promised to share more information about the new arrivals in the coming weeks, though. Feel free to freak out in the comments section.
