Jak & Daxter's set to make a return on PlayStation 3

After growing speculation, a spokesperson for Sony Computer Entertainment has confirmed that the publisher intends to release a Jak & Daxter Trilogy Edition for PlayStation 3.

Rumours mounted overnight when ratings for the purported compilation popped up on various websites around the web.

"We can confirm the Jak & Daxter Collection is coming and will have more news to share shortly," a Sony representative told Game Informer.

Jak & Daxter was Naughty Dog's previous stomping ground before it switched attention to the Uncharted series on PlayStation 3. The first and third titles are widely hailed as being some of the best three-dimensional platformers available, although the second game came under fire for its difficulty.

Two PSP games were developed, but it looks like they won't be included on the compilation given the specific wording of "Trilogy". That's a shame because Daxter in particular was a fantastic game.

Sony's kicked out some quality compilations over the past couple of years, so we can't wait for the Jak & Daxter Trilogy Edition to surface.
