NBA 2K21’s lifeblood is VC (or Virtual Currency), an in-game currency which can be used to purchase upgrades for your MyPlayer, cosmetics such as clothing and shoes, and Player Packs in MyTeam. As it’s such an important part of the game, you’ll want to maximise your earnings potential as much as possible. In this guide, we’re going to explain how to earn VC in NBA 2K21 so you always have the best attributes, threads, and MyTeam cards. NBA 2K21: How to Earn VC
In this guide, we're going to demonstrate how to earn VC in NBA 2K21 so that you always have the maximum amount of Virtual Currency to spend. We'll be regularly adding to and improving this guide over time, so be sure to bookmark the page and check back regularly for more tips and suggestions.
Play Good Basketball
The best place to start is just playing good basketball. In the MyCareer mode, you’ll earn VC for contributing to your team’s success. This means that you’ll accrue currency for: Scoring Points, Collecting Rebounds, Assisting Teammates, and Forcing Turnovers. Keep in mind that you can also lose VC for giving away fouls and turning over the ball.
Try to get your teammate grade as high as possible by playing well and you’ll earn a bonus based on your performance at the end of the game. Once you progress further through MyCareer you’ll be able to sign sponsorship deals which will maximise your VC income, but we’ll explain that in more detail later on.
Pick Your Agent Carefully
During the MyCareer campaign you’ll want to raise your draft stock as high as possible, because if you’re the second pick then you’ll guarantee the maximum salary possible during your first season in the NBA. This means that with good performances you can earn up to and over 1,000 VC per match you play, which is a pretty decent return – particularly early on when your minutes are relatively restricted.
You’ll also want to select your agent carefully. You’ll have two choices: Archie Baldwin and Harper Dell. While you will earn less with Harper Dell overall, you’ll get access to the most rewarding sponsors quickly, so if you’re looking to spec out your MyPlayer quickly then this may be your best option. You can still earn good VC with Archie Baldwin, but you may have to wait a little longer to get the best rewards.
As you accrue fans, you’ll also land sponsorship deals. These typically provide an injection of VC for attending an event or endorsing a product, but you want to pay attention to the Incentives too. Incentives can include payouts for achieving certain feats in a match, like registering three rebounds or scoring more than 20 points. Try to get as many Incentives as possible, and pick goals that you’re sure you’ll be able to complete every game. Don’t worry too much about store discounts if you’re purely looking to maximise your VC.
Remember that while you can submit counter-offers during the sponsorship negotiations, it’s important not to get too greedy. Companies will lose interest in you if you try to demand too much from them, and it’s better to have a weak contract than none at all – especially if the payout is pretty good overall.
Do the Daily Spin Every Day
The Daily Spin is perhaps one of NBA 2K21’s more controversial features, but it basically guarantees a bonus every single day, so is worth interacting with. This year you’ll find the big wheel in Jeff’s 2K Arcade, which is in the Neighborhood – it’s hard to miss. Head inside every day and spin the wheel; while there other prizes up for grabs – like MyTeam Tokens and clothing unlocks – you’ll also be able to win VC and VC multipliers, so it’s well worth playing the game daily and spending a few minutes to spin the wheel.
You can earn easy VC by watching NBA 2KTV and responding to the polls and trivia questions that appear during the show. You’ll see some episodes while the game is loading; otherwise you can browse to the 2KTV section on the main menu and pick an instalment. While you won’t earn much VC from interacting, it’s relatively low-effort currency.
Predict Real-World NBA Results
If you happen to be in Jeff’s 2K Arcade for the Daily Spin, then you may want to hit up one of the kiosks around the back that allows you to predict real-world NBA results. Unfortunately, given the disruption to the schedule due to coronavirus, the game won’t let you predict the ongoing playoffs. As such you’ll need to wait until December for the new season before you can use this. Select the correct winners, though, and there’s easy VC in it for you.
Purchase from the PS Store
VC is available from the PlayStation Store in various increments. While it’s not the path we recommend you take, if you’re looking for fast injection of Virtual Currency then it’s always an option you can take. Buying more VC in one sum usually nets you a better deal, so go for bigger packs if you can afford them. Also, keep in mind that 2K Sports will sometimes discount VC on the PS Store, so if you’re patient you can wait and potentially save big.
