Interlude Aloy, Varl, and Zo explore a mysterious facility atop the mountain west of Plainsong. Could MINERVA be hiding inside? 17

The Eye of the Earth: Walkthrough

You'll spend a large chunk of The Eye of the Earth absorbing information, but there's work to be done first. Walk with Varl and Zo through the facility. Eventually you'll need to split up. Use your Focus with R3 to highlight climbing routes up the elevator shaft, and remember to use your Pullcaster to open vents.

You'll eventually end up outside. Don't worry, as there's a route back into the facility, just keep platforming up the mountain until you reach an area with exposed piping. There's a breakable wall which you can open to get back into the facility and restore GAIA. This will become The Base.

Once GAIA has reawakened, you'll have the opportunity to explore The Base, before returning to her for a long conversation. You'll then be able to choose how you progress, and which of the three subordinates you want to recover first: AETHER, POSEIDON, or DEMETER. Don't worry as all three of these options will be added as quests to your Focus, and you can change your target as you choose.

Objective Log

  • Enter the Facility
  • Climb the Elevator Shaft
  • Search the Facility for MINERVA
  • Examine the Console
  • Go to the Lab
  • Examine the Fabrication Terminal
  • Return to the Control Room
  • Talk to GAIA
  • Exit the Base Through the West Door

TAU: Where Is the Key?

As you explore TAU, before you exit the facility, you'll stumble upon a locked door which requires a key. Don't worry too much about this, as the door will open up once you've exited the facility and come back inside to the central chamber. GAIA will then open most of the doors, and this area will be renamed as The Base.
