In His Wake: Walkthrough

Travel to the beach north of Fleet's End and examine the corpse. Then investigate the makeshift shrine and scroll. Call in your mount and travel to the west, then south. Keep following the quest markers to Pirik's Camp. There'll be Specters, as well as Devotees, waiting for you inside, so take care of them.

Once you've taken care of everyone, free the prisoners from the camp. This will trigger a cutscene, so watch it. Head inside the underground ruin, also known as Quen Excavation. Turn the wheel then go through the gate. Take care of the Devotees in the area. They'll come from both the first and second floor, so make sure you deal with them all effectively.

You'll need to find a Key Module to progress. Go in the room with a red dragon hologram outside it to collect Pirik's Key. Then use it to open the door. Loot the room inside, then use your Focus to find tracks. Follow them. There's some Brimshine on the right of the path here, so be sure to collect that. Once you get outside, you'll be ambushed. Take care of the Specter and Pirik. Remember to loot Pirik's corpse for the Railgun Component, which you can use to upgrade your Specter Gauntlet and unlock a Trophy. Pry open the cell door to free Lan, and then watch the cutscene.
