Horizon Forbidden West: All Sunken Caverns Locations

Where are all the Sunken Caverns in Horizon Forbidden West? What are Sunken Caverns, and what do they contain? As part of our Horizon Forbidden West guide, we're going to explain Sunken Caverns and tell you why you should explore them.

Horizon Forbidden West: What Is a Sunken Cavern?

As the name implies, Sunken Caverns are underwater caves that Aloy can swim through and explore. These areas are worth checking out, as they each have a bunch of Greenshine inside, which you will definitely need as you play through Horizon Forbidden West. You will complete a Sunken Cavern by collecting all of the Greenshine it contains. A pop-up in the lower right-hand corner of the screen will confirm you've found it all.

Note: Before you can fully explore Sunken Caverns, you will need to have unlocked the Diving Mask, which allows Aloy to stay underwater without having to come up for air. You will gain this equipment during the Main Quest, The Sea of Sands.

Horizon Forbidden West: Sunken Caverns

Below, we've listed out the location of every Sunken Cavern in Horizon Forbidden West, as well as what you can find in each one.

Sunken Cavern: Daunt East

This Sunken Cavern is found on the eastern side of The Daunt. The entrance is in a pool near the small settlement Last Log.

Greenshine Found Inside:

• 4 Greenshine Slivers
• 2 Greenshine Chunks
• 1 Greenshine Cluster

Sunken Cavern: Daunt West

This Sunken Cavern is on the western side of The Daunt, as you follow the path up to Split Crag. The entrance is behind a waterfall.

Greenshine Found Inside:

• 4 Greenshine Slivers
• 1 Greenshine Cluster

Sunken Cavern: Restless Weald

This Sunken Cavern is at the northernmost point above Plainsong. The entrance is located to the left of a waterfall.

Greenshine Found Inside:

• 3 Greenshine Slivers
• 3 Greenshine Chunks
• 1 Greenshine Cluster

Sunken Cavern: The Gouge

This Sunken Cavern is found north of Scalding Spear. The entrance is in a cave as you head into a woods.

Greenshine Found Inside:

• 4 Greenshine Fragments
• 1 Greenshine Cluster

Sunken Cavern: The Shining Wastes

This Sunken Cavern is just to the north of Vista Point: The Stillsands. The entry point is a well at an old mining facility.

Greenshine Found Inside:

• 1 Greenshine Sliver
• 1 Greenshine Chunk
• 1 Greenshine Cluster

Sunken Cavern: Sheerside Mountains

This Sunken Cavern is located half-way up the western snowy mountains, north of Cliffwatch and south of The Bulwark.

Greenshine Found Inside:

• 5 Greenshine Chunks
• 3 Greenshine Clusters

Sunken Cavern: The Raintrace

This Sunken Cavern is found in the south of the Lowlands, to the east of Thornmarsh. The entrance is a whirlpool found at the end of some rapids.

Greenshine Found Inside:

• 2 Greenshine Slivers
• 2 Greenshine Clusters

Sunken Cavern: Cliffs of the Cry

This Sunken Cavern is located in the southwestern corner of the mainland. The entrance is covered by a Metal Flower you'll need to clear before you can head down.

Greenshine Found Inside:

• 3 Greenshine Chunks
• 2 Greenshine Clusters
