Hollow Knight Silksong: How to Unlock Maps and Where to Find Shakra

Navigation and exploring are two key components of Hollow Knight: Silksong, and accomplishing both is made much easier with the use of a map. However, you don't start the game with one. In this Hollow Knight Silksong guide, we are going to reveal how to unlock maps and where to find Shakra.

How Do You Unlock Maps in Hollow Knight Silksong?

For the first 30 minutes or so of the game, you'll be playing without a map. Luckily, the introductory area is fairly linear and you shouldn't have much trouble finding your way through. You'll fight a few bosses, then reach the surface and a town called Bone Bottom.

After walking through the town, you'll reach The Marrow. This is the area full of lava at the bottom.

You purchase maps using the Rosary currency, which are the small red beads you can collect on your travels. You'll find a character called Shakra in The Marrow, and from her, you can buy maps of the areas you're in.

When you enter a new area, you must find Shakra, so you can start charting your way through each place in the game.

Where to Find Shakra in The Marrow in Hollow Knight Silksong

• From the entrance to The Marrow, follow the main path until you reach the area with the lava below
• You'll eventually reach a part of the path with two small platforms above you

• Follow the two small platforms up and to the left, so you're going back the way you just came from
• Jump across the platforms along this level, eventually reaching an area with two steps and metal railings
• Take this path, still to the left, jumping across a pit of spikes
• You'll reach a wall on your left, at which point, turn around and follow the small platforms above you

• Follow the path right until you reach an opening directly above you
• Jump up into the new area, and you should come across some pulsating platforms — these crumble very shortly after you step on them
• You need to follow the path upwards that they create
• When you reach the very top of this area, take a left

• Follow the path to the left and you should start to hear singing
• Approach the character singing, and you've found Shakra
• Purchase The Marrow Map for 50 Rosary, then get The Compass so you can track where you are on the map for 70 Rosary
