Garm is a gigantic wolf with a relatively small pool of attacks. However, some of these strikes are deceptively fast given the beast's size, and this is a long battle that's actually split into two separate confrontations.

As with any colossal boss, your approach will need to be cautious. When you're not smacking the wolf in his snout with your weapon of choice, you'll be strafing about the arena in an attempt to avoid his blows. Garm swipe, stomp, and bite throughout this encounter — the latter being an unblockable. The stomps, meanwhile, have an icy area of effect that you need to be aware of. A well-timed dodge roll is needed for that one.

When Garm whips his chain at you, it's time to use some strategy. When the chain is smashed downwards, it'll get stuck in the ground. Use Kratos' axe to freeze it in place, and you can pull the beast to the floor, opening it up for an onslaught. This is when you'll do big damage, so save your runic attacks for this opportunity.

Later in the fight, Garm will start chewing up stone and spitting at you. These projectiles need to be dodged, and they obviously make closing in that much more difficult. This isn't a huge issue, though, as parts of the rocks can actually be hurled back towards the boss. When you see one on the battlefield, make sure Garm isn't about to launch an attack, and throw that thing back where it came from. You'll deal huge stun damage if you hit.

Now then, the second fight. This battle takes place in a more enclosed arena, and Garm will have a smaller suite of attacks. You may notice that the giant wolf now has glowing spots on his neck and legs. These are weakpoints that can be exploited by throwing spears into them, and then detonating. Hitting them dead on deals loads of stun and damage, making portions of the fight go by a lot faster.

Beyond that, you're still going to have to deal with Garm's lunging bites and rock-spewing antics — this time from a shorter distance. By and large, Garm is the same here as he was in the previous encounter, but it should be noted that his stomping attacks are slightly faster, and he'll throw a few extra slams in for good measure. Just like before, fling his icy rocks back at him, and chuck some spears into his weakpoints whenever you're able.
