Capital Punishment is a Main Quest in Final Fantasy 16, following on from After the Storm. As part of our Final Fantasy 16 guide, we're going to explain everything you need to know about Capital Punishment.

Type	Description
Main Quest	Hugo Kupka learns of Cid's true identity, and marshals his loyal minions to march on Rosalith — the city in which Clive was born and raised. Though full aware that this is naught but another of Kupka's traps, Clive jumps at the chance to put the hideaway's longtime nemesis to the sword. With Jill and Gav in support, he infiltrates the former ducal capital, where battle between Kupka's Men of the Rock and its imperial occupiers still rages, and together, they make their way to the castle, where Kupka awaits.

Capital Punishment: Walkthrough

Capital Punishment begins immediately after you fast travel to Rosalith at the end of the last quest.

Head up the road and watch the next cutscene. Open the gate and defeat the soldiers. Next, climb the ladder, and drop down again to continue through the town. Watch a cutscene, then defeat the next batch of baddies.

Proceed through a gap and up some steps, then defeat some more bad guys. Squeeze through another gap, then you're up against yet another enemy group. Climb the ladder and follow the path to another gate. Open it and battle some more enemies.

Next, climb the wall and proceed up the stairs. When you reach the castle, defeat the enemies, then watch the cutscene. It's boss fight time, and you're up against a Coeurl.

Coeurl Spoils:

1x Coeurl Whisker
20x Sharp Fang
20x Magicked Ash
300 EXP
60 Ability Points
2,000 gil

After the fight, watch the cutscene. When you're back in action, head right to leave the dungeon. Look out for healing items on your way up through the castle, you'll need them. When you get to the courtyard door, watch the cutscene.

You'll be up against a lot of enemies next. After a couple of waves, some tougher foes will emerge, so beat them too.

200 Ability Points
3,000 gil

Watch the next cutscene. Head forward through the door, and then again through the next. Watch the cutscene. Afterwards, you'll be in a boss fight against Hugo Kupka.

2x Meteorite
1,200 EXP
270 Ability Points
4,000 gil

With the fight over, watch the cutscene. Once it's done, fast travel back to the Hideaway to finish the quest.
