On this page, we're going to explain how to complete Ranni the Witch's quest. We'll include a walkthrough of where to find Ranni the Witch, what you need to do with Key Items like the Carian Inverted Statue, Miniature Ranni, and Discarded Palace Key — and how you can reach Midnight Altar and Divine Tower of Liurnia.

How to Find Renna

Elden Ring: How to Complete Ranni the Witch's Quest Guide 1

Before you can begin with Ranni the Witch's quest you'll need to meet with Renna at the Church of Elleh in order to learn How to Use Summon Spirits and Use Ashes Summons. In order to meet her, rest at the Site of Grace and Pass Time > Until Nightfall. Renna will be waiting for you on a crumbled wall to the right of the Church of Elleh's entrance, and she'll give you the Spirit Calling Bell so that you can use Summon Spirits. Do keep in mind that Renna will only appear after you've figured out How to Level Up and Where to Meet Melina, and to reiterate she'll only be there at Nightfall.

If you do happen to miss this encounter somehow then you can still buy the Spirit Calling Bell from the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold.

How to Find Ranni the Witch

Ranni the Witch can be found at Nightfall in Ranni's Rise, but you'll need to complete Caria Manor and defeat Royal Knight Loretta to reach the Three Sisters region first. Once you're done, travel southwest to Ranni's Rise and head up, touching the Site of Grace along the way. Take the lift to the top and exhaust all Ranni the Witch's options, including a pledge to Serve Ranni the Witch. She'll tell you about three additional NPCs she wants you to meet: War Counsellor Iji, Blaidd, and Preceptor Seluvis.

All three will appear in ghostly form as you make your way down and out of Ranni's Rise, but be sure to exhaust all their dialogue as you go. Then return to Ranni the Witch and speak with her once more. Once you've exited back out into the Three Sisters region, you can continue with the next phase of this quest. Do keep in mind that if the quest doesn't develop as described above, and you're simply told "The curse mark you seek is not here", then you'll need to return to the Roundtable Hold and speak to Rogier, then come back to Ranni's Rise and repeat the steps above. If you find yourself trapped inside Ranni's Rise, then make sure you've exhausted all the dialogue of the NPCs and spoken to Ranni the Witch one last time.

Where to Find Blaidd in Siofra River Well

First up, meet with Blaidd in Siofra River Well. If you haven't been to Siofra River Well yet, then you can find an elevator east of the Mistwood Outskirts in Limgrave. You'll meet Blaidd overlooking a cliff just north of the Hallowhorn Grounds, east of Siofra River Bank. Exhaust all of his dialogue and he'll tell you to speak to Preceptor Seluvis, who you can find back at the Three Sisters region, so head that way again.

Meet with Preceptor Seluvis

You'll need to meet with Preceptor Seluvis next, who's in the Three Sisters region southeast of Ranni the Witch in Seluvis's Rise. If this is your first time meeting with him, then he'll give you Seluvis's Potion, which starts a new quest. You can find out more about How to Complete Preceptor Seluvis's Quest through the link. For now, continue talking to him until you can Ask About Nokron, and he'll tell you about another NPC, Sorceress Sellen, who you can find in Limgrave. You'll get Seluvis's Introduction, which you can present to Sorceress Sellen upon your arrival.

While you're at Seluvis's Rise, spend a moment to head up stairs to the top room and open the treasure chest to loot another Memory Stone. Then make your way to Sorceress Sellen.

Speak with Sorceress Sellen and Defeat Starscourge Radahn

Sorceress Sellen can be found in the Waypoint Ruins Cellar, after defeating the Mad Pumpkin Head. Speak to her and Show Letter of Introduction, which will prompt her to tell you about Starscourge Radahn.

At this point you can continue with multiple different quests, or push forward and progress the plot by facing Starscourge Radahn in Caelid at Redmane Castle. You can find out How to Beat Starscourge Radahn through the link, or you can find out How to Complete Sorceress Sellen's Quest.

Seek Out the Fingerslayer Blade in Nokron, Eternal City

Putting Starscourge Radahn to rest will cause a crater to appear in the Mistwood area, just south of the Mistwood Ruins. This will forge a pathway to Nokron, Eternal City, where you'll be able to access Night's Sacred Ground, and eventually find the Fingerslayer Blade. If you need help finding the exact path, then refer to How to Complete Nokron, Eternal City and Find the Fingerslayer Blade for a complete walkthrough. Along the way, you'll also need to know How to Beat Mimic Tear, as this is one of the bosses you'll face.

Return to Ranni the Witch

With the Fingerslayer Blade finally in your possession, return to Ranni the Witch and tell her about your progress. Present her with the Fingerslayer Blade and exhaust her dialogue until she rewards you with the Carian Inverted Statue. At this point, Ranni the Witch will leave Ranni's Rise, but don't despair too much, as there's still lots of work to be done.

Explore the Carian Study Hall and Reach the Divine Tower of Liurnia

With the Carian Inverted Statue, you can now make more meaningful progress at the Carian Study Hall. If you've not been here yet, then you'll find it in the Liurnia of the Lakes region, east of Academy Gate Town. Immediately inside is a desk with a globe on it. Place the Carian Inverted Statue on the table for a cut-scene, which will effectively turn the entire inside of the building upside-down.

If you progress inside the Carian Study Hall, behind the desk and where the lift was, you'll now see that the entire area has been flipped and you can get through the open archway. Beware of Spider-Hands on the other side and follow the walkway which wraps right around the edge of the building to your left, back into the central area where you'll have to fight more Spider-Hands and Preceptor Miriam. Once his health is about half depleted he'll teleport onto the other side of the room, so follow the western arch upwards and then drop down so you can follow the wall around opposite to where you entered this area, defeating Preceptor Miriam along the way.

Not far from here, you'll see some beams you can drop down onto, with a lift not far beyond. Carefully fall onto these beams, and navigate them, ensuring to loot the corpses for Glintstone Fireflies and Holyproof Dried Liver.

Then fall onto the lift and take it up into the rooftop of the Carian Study Hall. Through one of the archways is a door which you can take outside to Liurnia Tower Bridge.

There's not much of interest here, although the path is protected by a Godskin Noble, which you can kill for the Godskin Noble Set. Just beyond him is the Divine Tower of Liurnia, so take the lift up to the top, touch the Site of Grace, and brace yourself.

At the top, you'll find Ranni the Witch's corpse. Loot it for the Cursemark of Death, and then prepare yourself for the next step in this quest.

Investigate Renna's Rise

At this point, if you return to Ranni's Rise, she'll be missing from the upstairs area where you previously spoke to her, and there'll be a new Site of Grace named Ranni's Chamber in her place. Instead go to Renna's Rise, which is north-east of Ranni's Rise, and climb the ladder.

Directly behind you is a chest, which you can open for the Snow Witch Set. Continue upstairs to the top floor and take the teleporter to Nokstella, Eternal City.

Speak to Miniature Ranni and Defeat Baleful Shadow

Immediately ahead of you, on a corpse, is Miniature Ranni. Pick it up and then rest at Ainsel River Main. Here you can choose to Talk to Miniature Ranni so do so three times. She'll tell you that she wants you to kill Baleful Shadow, so that's what we're going to learn to do in How to Complete Ainsel River Main and Nokstella, Eternal City.

Return to Raya Lucaria Grand Library

After defeating Baleful Shadow, you'll be rewarded with the Discarded Palace Key. Do you remember that locked chest next to Rennala? Good, because you need to return to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library and open it. This will reward you with the Dark Moon Ring, which will teleport you to the Lake of Rot area whenever you need it to. Of course, if you want to continue with Ranni the Witch's quest, then that's where you're going to need to head right away.

This is a truly awful section of the game, as you're going to get hit by Scarlet Rot pretty much immediately after stepping into the Lake of Rot. Your objective is to head south, but you're going to need some help. Fortunately, if you look south-west you should be able to see some illuminated beams raised out of the water. These have switches next to them which uncover safe spots of land you can rest on. Use Preserving Boluses or your Flasks to get through the stretches of the Lake of Rot you need to run through, and head south to the big building off into the distance. Just inside is the Grand Cloister Site of Grace.

If you head down towards where the Giant Prawns are worshipping the tower, you can loot Scorpion's Stinger from inside. Then follow the pathway south, to the open coffin at the top of the waterfall and interact with it. You'll be taken down to a new area where Astel, Naturalborn of the Void is. You're going to need to beat this legendary beast to progress Ranni the Witch's quest any further, and you can find out How to Beat Astel, Naturalborn of the Void through the link.

After defeating Astel, Naturalborn of the Void and touching the Site of Grace, head through the tunnel and take the lift to the Moonlight Altar.

Free Ranni the Witch's Body and Get the Dark Moon Greatsword

Your goal at the Moonlight Altar, after touching the Site of Grace, is to reach the Cathedral of Manus Celes, which is to the north-east. It's protected by the Glintstone Dragon Adula, which can be a fearsome opponent, so just sprint past it into the church if you don't want to fight it head on. If you do battle it, though, remaining on Torrent and targeting its legs can be useful here. Inside the church are a lot of Starlight Shards, so be sure to pick these up.

On the right side after entering, there's a cavern you can fall into. Follow the tunnel deep inside until you find Ranni the Witch slumped next to a Two Fingers.

Select the Wear Ring option, which triggers a cut-scene and effectively ends the quest. Remember to loot the Dark Moon Greatsword before leaving the area, and note that this will allow you to achieve the Age of Stars ending when you finish the game.
