The Demon bosses in Demon's Souls are the hardest and most stressful part of the whole affair. Filling up on souls in the stage prior only to have to prove yourself against a giant enemy with a massive health bar to match is almost always a daunting task.

But don't worry, in this Demon's Souls guide we'll have you covered by breaking down each of the game's bosses and the best way to approach them. Take a deep breath, have a look at the tips below, and try your best to enjoy yourself and the challenge that the bosses pose.

How to Beat Fool's Idol in Demon's Souls

The Fool's Idol is a pretty easy fight if you perform the proper preparations beforehand. You see, Fool's Idol will continue to respawn and is impossible to defeat until you figure out what's resurrecting her. We're here to help you if you're having a hard time.

Find and Stop the Old Man

Odds are the first time you encounter the Fool's Idol, killing it won't do much. You'll probably defeat her and celebrate prematurely only to hear an ominous laugh. You'll likely realize that it didn't actually do anything and find that the Idol will just return after leaving and reentering the boss room. You'll have to put a stop to the person who's reviving her first.

The man that's resurrecting her resides on the upper-right balcony overlooking the boss room chapel. To get there, you'll have to backtrack to the place where you deactivated the giant arrow-firing contraption, and enter the open archway that corresponds to the boss chapel's right-hand side. Follow this path to the end where you'll find the culprit – an old man with a glowing symbol in front of him. Put him out of his misery to put a stop to the Fool's Idol resurrections.

Defeat the Fool's Idol

At this point, you can finally defeat the Fool's Idol for good. Return to the boss room and start giving her all you've got. She only has a ranged attack and a stun at her disposal, so you don't have to worry about much until she summons doppelgangers. Try to take out all the undead dudes lingering about first though, as they can start getting in the way later on in the fight.

When the arena becomes filled with Fools Idol facsimiles, hide behind the pillars along the sides of the boss room and try to coax out which of the apparitions is the real one. It should be pretty clear thanks to the fact that the actual Fool's Idol fires off a stronger spell that's distinct from the rest due to its larger size. You can cause the others to disintegrate by giving them a single whack, but dashing straight for the real thing and getting as many hits in as possible is just as effective.

Do be careful that you don't let yourself stay in the open for more than a few seconds. The doppelgangers can stun you which can lead to a likely instant death if all the other apparitions have a clear shot at you. More and more of the facsimiles start showing up as the Fool's Idol's health gets lower which will only make things tougher as the fight drags on. Hide on the edges, pinpoint the real Idol, unload some attacks on her when it's safe, and repeat as many times as necessary. The Fool's Idol should eventually fall without much fuss.
