The name says it all. List & discuss your favorite sci-fi games. It can be top 5, 10, or whatever.
You may include licensed titles & multiple titles from the same series, though I personally won't be doing so.
10. Mighty Switch Force! (3DS) - While short, it's a solid little platformer with amazingly awesome spritework.
9. Bionic Commando (GB) - Very impressive for a Game Boy title, thanks to it being a pretty direct port of the NES title (now with an even more sci-fi flavor). The levels were very large and intricate for the platform, and if it had a few more interesting bosses, it may have been higher.
8. Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge (GB) - My only Mega Man game, I've played it so much that I can usually beat all four initial robot master stages without dying once. Was originally never able to beat the Wily Castle stages, but thanks to the save states on 3DS VC, I was finally able to complete this little gem.
7. Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (360) - While nothing revolutionary, it's a very solid shooter, with some very impressive boss fights. The subtitle is dead on with the vibe of the game world too, which makes this one of the harshest adventures on my list.
6. VVVVVV (3DS) - Don't let the extremely retro graphics fool you, this is a pure sci-fi adventure where you must rescue your spaceship crew from a very bizarre dimension. The awesome platforming is very addicting, and the rockin' soundtrack never gets old.
5. InFamous (PS3) - While Empire City might not be the most exciting game world to explore, never before has a game made you feel like a superhero more than this one, and it has a few kicka** bosses too.
4. Metal Gear Rising (360) - While I felt MGS3 was the better game (the only other Metal Gear I've played), I felt this simply felt more sci-fi, so that's why I went with it. It's no slouch itself, with some of the best visuals I've seen on the 360, amazing gameplay, flashy bosses, and the kinds of unlockables I like (yay! concept art).
3. Zone of the Enders: the Second Runner HD (360) - While not a perfect game, it built on the solid foundations of the first game to become something truly special. The gameplay is awesome, has a nice cast of bosses (though one was irritating), some totally awesome missions near the end, and I just adore the game world of the series as a whole.
2. Portal: Still Alive (360) - This game absolutely blew me away when I first played it. A tad short, but there's really nothing else quite like it, and GLADoS is one of the most memorable video game personalities of all time.
1. Metroid Fusion (GBA) - While Super Metroid is just as good, I went with Fusion simply because I played it first. Classic "Metroidvania" gameplay perfected, I loved the variety of environments, and the back & forth with the SA-X is one of the most tense things I've ever experienced in gaming.
So, how about you?
EDIT: altered post to include Portal: Still Alive (how I forgot that the first time around is beyond me).
Well I am going to include Fantasy games as well (Alot of places put the two together movies, bookstore etc.)
1. World of Warcraft — What can I say that hasn't been said about this game. I love the lore of the game and just the huge vastness of the world.
2. Mega Man 3 — Yeah alot of people prefer 2 but for some reason I have always enjoyed 3 more.
3. The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past — Quite possibly the best Zelda ever.
4. Doom — Still one of my favorite shooter games around.
5. Smash TV — Big money Big prizes I love it. Never have I spent as much money in the arcade then I did with this game. Still one of my favorite games of all time.
The best Sci fi game is Elite Dangerous. As long as it continues to build on the base structure and starts adding better landing on planets and more variety it would be the perfect game. But its slowed right down

@themcnoisy: Yes yes it is. I am hoping they have that game in the free play Arcade at the Portland Retro Game Expo this weekend. Free play Smash TV would be awesome.

Does Fez count as Sci-Fi? Then sign me up as well for Fez.
Super Metroid will always remain a classic, Metroid Prime is one of my favourite GameCube games as well. F-Zero is kinda Sci-Fi-esque, right? I also played a lot of Bomberman games when Hudson was still around, classic Bomberman multiplayer was always great. I'm currently playing Xeodrifter, pretty neat game as well. If anyone's a fan of classic Metroid games, you should check out Xeodrifter on the PS store.
@Octane: FeZ is like 2001 Space Oddysey in a cute wrapper, keep playing then read up on the lore and some of the theories regarding the star gates, owls and 'them'. Agree regarding Zeodrifter, it's a nice little game, pretty tough too. You should try Axiom Verge if you havnt already, another great scifi game.
@Splat: I could never get into those games. Don't know why cause I am a huge sci-fi fan but those games, major Zzzzzz factor. I tried all 3 played about an hour or two and that was it. I just honestly don't see why it has such a huge following, don't get me wrong I am not saying people are wrong for enjoying it's just more of I can't see why. But if they enjoy it more power to them. I am sure I enjoy something that others can't understand why.

The second thing that came into my head was Phantasy Star Online on the Dreamcast. Lost so many hours to that game and loved every minute. The first was Mass Effect.
@kyleforrester87: I agree, Xeodrifter can be pretty unforgiving, but since it's a relatively short game I'm fine with some proper challenge. I'll be sure to check out Axiom Verge once I'm done with Xeodrifter.
Yeah, I already completed Fez; 209.4%. I can see were you're coming from, there's definitely a sci-fi lore present in that game. I had to use a guide to solve the last handful of puzzles, but everything was brilliantly designed. I'm not sure if the ''proper'' way of solving the monolith puzzle is known yet, some people have found hidden images encrypted inside the soundtrack, one of those images was a QR code that led to a random string of dates, but that's as far as they got I believe.
Does Infamous count as Sci-Fi? If so Infamous 2 was my favourite Sci-fi game.
Seeing as how everyone's powers were granted by a scientific experiment gone wrong (and not via some sort of magical or supernatural element), I'd say it safely falls under sci-fi.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
@Octane: yeah I cracked the Tetris codes myself (finding the white shapes and using the blackboard to find out what they meant) and was pretty chuffed with myself for that. I read about the potential undercover end secrets too. Love that kinda stuff! Not sure what my opinion of the developer is, really, but it's somehow tough to picture him behind the game!

@kyleforrester87: I'm not too concerned about the developer. I've heard plenty of stories and I have really no idea what the whole ordeal was about. To be honest, I don't really care, the game was awesome and that's all that counts for me.
