@Voltan not many in the greater scheme of things… only started going for them on every game I play last summer though. I’m on 49, with 17 this year… think I had 19 last year. I have quite a few friends on PSN in the 300’s though, so I’m merely a tiddler.

having randomly bought Helldivers when searching for a 4 player co-op game to play with some friends after the footie at the weekend I must say it is absolutely great fun, friendly fire is always on and is an added part of the hilarity!

Okay listen up here's some underrated games.

Vampyr - the combat in this game is garbage town but if you don't care about that and you're just after a vampire story then this is a winner. I really liked this game and got the platinum in it. It's one I'm glad I didn't have to review because it's flawed and clunky and the combat is like I said, you know, cack but since I care a lot about story in games and enjoy chill games where I walk about talk to people and stuff... it was up my street. (I would have given it a 7 if I'd reviewed it btw).

Final Fantasy VIII - this is pretty old school now but you can play it on PS4 and you should because it's radical. The combat system is totally broken but okay. I never play Final Fantasy games for their combat. I'm playing them to travel a world and do a story and whatever. VIII has a cool story which goes to some unusual places for a Final Fantasy, and it's got ace music and stuff. I recommend VIII. It's great.

Kingdom Come Deliverance - I was honestly quite blown away by this one. My girlfriend was singing its praises talking about how it was one of the best RPGs she'd ever played and I was like YEAH SURE LAUREN. Anyway I eventually played it and ended up with egg on my face because it's really, really good. I think how much you like this is dependent on what you want from games plus your tolerance buggy and awkward stuff. The storytelling and worldbuilding and stuff is fantastic in this game. Like really really good. I was genuinely surprised by the quality of that stuff.

The combat is pretty tough to get used to and it's really difficult at times, but the "realism" and the historical RPG slant really spoke to me. It's honestly one of my favourite games that I've played in the last few years. Another one I'm glad I didn't have to review.

The Order: 1886 - I feel like there's a bit of a pattern with my picks - rubbish combat but cool world to be in and story and stuff. That's this. The shooting isn't really bad or anything, just unremarkable. But I love the alt-history werewolf stuff going on here. I'm a sucker for all that and this just hits the right notes for me.

Othercide - Nobody seems to talk about this game much. I reviewed it back... last year?... maybe. I think I gave it an 8. I should have if I didn't. It's like a stylish gothy XCOM. Bit simpler than XCOM but that's still the best comparison. It's a treat. I got the platinum in this one too.

Murdered Soul Suspect - This is another one my girlfriend liked that I ended up playing. This is a total mid-tier game that is basically for a very specific demographic - if you like ghosts, detectives, and ghost detectives, and you don't care about fun combat you're golden here.

This will do.

@Th3solution @Voltan @johncalmc Allow me to be the fourth member of this newfound The Order: 1886 fan club. I thought it was superb, and was gutted when we never got the far larger, globetrotting sequel it was so blatantly trying to establish. Have played it through twice. Thoroughly enjoyable.

'' not all of us wanna play big budget well known AAA games all the time ''

it's not that they have to be big-budget for me (though that helps tremendously) , its just that me personally - i hate games that look/feel like they shouldn't be on a console , but instead on some mobile phone in the google play store . those are the kinds of games i can't stand ; the games that feel like im playing an app on a big screen - mobile games basically. But i don't have a problem with indie games if they utilize the platform that they're on , and feel like a console game ( outlast , dead by daylight , rocket league , etc ) instead of feeling like some cheap app that made its way to a console.

but on topic though , an underrated game to me is Twisted Metal ..well the franchise not a game in particular. It would benefit from the era were in now with streaming , and excel in a genre thats now not only dead , but it was the best at it . It so much they could do and modernize today with the franchise - the endless customizations & many cars and skins , avatar creation , map creator , a large-scale battle royale car combat mode even , team battles , single player co-op , etc etc etc

its just so much they could do with twisted metal that i think would thrive with todays environment of video games and technology .

I can’t believe this topic I started for fun has accidentally spawned an Order 1886 fan club XD

@TheIdleCritic My word... [unbuttons collar and de-mists glasses]

Also, you're missing Quantum of Solace back there. Not that anybody who's seen it will blame you!

@Jackpaza0508 Oh, this was always where things were headed, buddy. The Order: 1886 is the poster child for underrated eighth generation console gaming... well, alongside Knack, of course!

@RogerRoger Haha. I purposely left Quantum out of my collection.

But... after you said that I went to eBay and just found it for £2.30. So I now own Quantum Of Solace.

colonelkilgore

@RogerRoger @TheIdleCritic I rewatched Quantum a few years after my initial viewing and it wasn’t as bad as I remembered it being. In fact I actually thought it was ‘alright’… now Spectre on the other hand 🤢🤮
