@KALofKRYPTON Before I thank you for praising my Star Trek Online screencaps, I wanted to say sorry about our earlier, now-vanished exchange in the TV topic. Whilst I'll never apologise for being an overgrown boy scout (especially to somebody who's named after the most famous overgrown boy scout of all time), my reply to your post was made in haste. It was poorly constructed and might've come across as a personal snipe, and that was absolutely not my intention.

Anyway, back to screencaps. Glad you like my starship shots, many thanks!

I don't actually "play" Star Trek Online. I'm not a member of a fleet, I have no idea what weapons work for which enemies (they don't follow the exact same rules as they do on the shows, so I get confused) and I've never played an MMORPG before, so terminology like "PvP or PvE" (?!) doesn't make any sense to me... basically, the "game" part of it isn't why I'm there. The best way to describe it is that I'm a Trekkie with a PlayStation, not a gamer who happens to play Star Trek, if that makes sense? So I literally spend all my time taking screencaps, walking the corridors of my starships, changing my uniform and generally just flying around whilst humming the theme tunes.

You and @Fullbringlchigo are both right; the Defiant-Class docking hatch has been situated above and below the main deflector, on different versions of the CGI and physical models used in the show. Both were quick fixes by separate designers after they realised their mistake. In fact, I think the only major starship that's ever "properly" docked at DS9 (lining up a pylon with an established docking hatch) is the USS Voyager (whilst the USS Enterprise-D gets close, the pylon is way too high to be connected to her port-side torpedo launcher hatch).

There. I've ranted on about nerdy details and @Fullbringlchigo has posted a Final Fantasy XV screencap. Everything is right with the universe!

One more starship, then I'll mix things up a little.

@RogerRoger No need to apologise - I know the forum isn't really the place to bring up/suggest what I did.
Unnecessary content lock outs do bother me though.

STO is OK. The ship stuff nicer than any of the on foot business. The on going story beats and the guest stars they pull in for voice work is commendable though. Even after all this time they still put a lot of love in to it.

I'd recommend Bridge Crew if you can cope with the Kelvinverse aesthetic. Without PSVR it's a little clunky - but you soon get used to it.
I first played it on a friend's Vive, it was all I could do not to throw a credit card at a PSVR order there and then!

@RogerRoger i thought i was the only one who just flew around humming the theme tunes

@KALofKRYPTON i want to try Bridge Crew too but apparently you still need the PS camera for it and i don't have one

KALofKRYPTON

@FullbringIchigo I don't think you do. I mean, I have a ps camera (original one) - but it never turns on while the game is on.
The DS4 doesn't use any light bar features in the game.

Keep up the great shots everyone! Wish I could contribute more, but I lost my 1000+ capture gallery earlier in the year. Not bothered much since, but I did grab this shot as I finished up Monster Hunter World:

@FullbringIchigo I see the store listing says that the camera is required, not sure why you'd need it. I'll try it later with the camera disconnected and let you know.

@KALofKRYPTON thanks but i might not be able to reply until tomorrow if that's OK, it's getting late after all

KALofKRYPTON

@FullbringIchigo No need for the camera. I think the 'requirement' listing is just a left over on the store since before it was patched for non-VR.

I did notice however that they are removing the single player voice controls from the 29th of March, which is a big shame as it's really helpful; and really fun ordering the helm to "make it so" and so on.
If I were buying now, I'd think twice and perhaps wait to see if more content comes and whether they reimplement voice control.

There was rumour of more content coming; so I live in hope of prime timeline Next Gen era stuff.

@FullbringIchigo no worries. Hope you're enjoying it. Try out the voice control while it's still active 😉

@FullbringIchigo You fly around in Star Trek Online humming theme tunes AND you play Sonic games? Have I been cloned without my knowledge?! In all seriousness, I'd considered trying Final Fantasy XV this year; your screencaps, combined with discovering that your wider gaming tastes match mine, push me ever-closer to making a purchase. Cheers!

@KALofKRYPTON Thanks for the recommendation about Star Trek: Bridge Crew. I had given it some thought, and wouldn't even mind the Kelvin Timeline aesthetic (not my favourite films, but I certainly don't hate them and actually really like the Apple Enterprise) but my anxiety makes playing co-operatively with strangers difficult, and I don't have enough friends to form a crew. I've heard bad things about playing with the A.I. solo, voice controls or no, so I think I'll let it pass (until they announce an Enterprise-D or Voyager bridge... then I'll cave).

Is that screencap you shared from the Shadow of the Colossus remake? It's real pretty!

@Fight_Teza_Fight You lost over a thousand screencaps?! Dude, I'm so sorry to hear that! I'd have loved to see them. That little Monster Hunter Horizon shot is great, thanks for sharing!

@RogerRoger for all we know YOU could be my clone

also the single player on Bridge Crew isn't bad although it IS a bit awkward to control by yourself i must admit

now if you will excuse me i have theme songs to hum

KALofKRYPTON

@RogerRoger Bridge Crew is decent solo. Not so sure how it'll feel without the voice control though.
I hate the Kelvin timeline desin work. Always feels so very overdone. Each variation of Tomy My First Enterprise just seems like someone purposefully trying to make it look worse. Then there's the size of It, and the internal dimensions discrepancies, and the hot rod light effects... etc

Yeah. The SoC remake is great looking!

@FullbringIchigo ...as long as neither of us winds up becoming a pasty-faced, whiny emo leather-clad Reman wannabe, I don't mind which of us is the original, frankly!

If ever I see Bridge Crew on sale during a gap in my backlog, or if it gets discounted on PS Plus or something, I might be tempted. Thanks for your thoughts on it, too. As a Trekkie gamer, awkward controls are nothing new... remember Star Trek: Encounters on PS2? I'm getting hand cramps just thinking about it.

@KALofKRYPTON The Kelvin aesthetic took some getting used to. I didn't realise I actually liked the 2009 Enterprise until I saw, and reacted violently to, the stretched-out version in Beyond (great film but hideous Enterprise... glad they smashed it up real good).

That being said, I'll take the Prime Timeline (to which Star Trek: Discovery does NOT belong, I hasten to add) anyday. LCARS is life, and the NX-01 is a prequel done right.

KALofKRYPTON

@RogerRoger the redesigned Beyond ship was horrid. Only further outdone by the even worse A version at the end.
The destroyed one was only slightly redesigned in order to make it look more vulnerable to the swarm attack 😒

The NX refit is one of my favourites. The only reason I stuck with the Eaglemoss collection really.

It's a shame about Discovery. It's a decent show - just ill fitting.
